| If your child is about to attend outdoor ed, please express concern that children from several recent sessions in the same room have come home with bedbug bites. The facility has not returned inquiries. I would not have sent my child had I known. |
| Which facility? |
| Near Frederick |
| Ugh, that sucks OP. Sorry. |
| What facilty? |
| Bigger worry is did they bring bedbugs home from outdoor ed and infest your home? That would be terrible! |
| Are you saying that your child went to Outdoor Ed (when? where?) and came home with bed bug bites? How do you know that they were bed bug bites? |
| skycroft? |
| Echo Hill?? |
| Skycroft. Several kids came home with bites..different sessions same beds. They fit the description of bed bug bites (groups of 3 and location) according to ped and Dr Google. |
|
If you're sure, I'd report it to the bedbug registry:
http://www.bedbugregistry.com/ and tripadvisor.com |
| It is not a hotel.. Do people read tripadvisor for an MCPS field trip property? |
I think these properties are rented out to non-MCPS groups, so TripAdvisor is not a bad suggestion. But, I don't think MCPS parents will check there. I would write a letter/email to some MCPS higher up about the bedbugs -- maybe the head of Operations for MCPS -- with a CC to Dr. Starr. Or Tweet Dr. Starr about it == that would probably get a lot of attention about it! Thousands of kids go thru those MCPS outdoor ed facilities every year. If there is a problem with vermin, infection, etc., it has the potential to spread widely. MCPS should do something ASAP. |
| I heard they have plastic mattresses at Skycroft. How can bed bugs live in them? |
Good question. |
