Six are Trump appointees. You figure it out.

I don’t know how many judges there would be, so that doesn’t mean anything to me.

You can Google, right? The bios are public.

The case will be assigned to a panel of three judges, picked at random. There are 11 active judges. The panel could include a judge on senior status or even a district court judge sitting by designation (unlikely).

I can Google their bios, but I cannot interpret what makes their bios good or bad.

If they have had a legitimate career as a lawyer, I feel a little bit better that they understand the law.

You’re attempting to read tea leaves. Cannon had what some might consider a “legitimate career” as a federal prosecutor (AUSA) at the trial and appellate level. Duke/Michigan law. Appellate law clerk. A few years as biglaw associate. Her resume was still very thin and politics was at the heart of Rubio championing her nomination.

Why have the democrats did filled the open seat? They should have done it as soon as the case went to Cannon.

That’s not how the Senate works. Nancy Abudu deadlocked in Judiciary Committee. Schumer elected to pass nominations that he could rather than hold up dozens of confirmations over one contentious pick who won’t get a single GOP vote if brought to the floor. Biden isn’t going to back down on the nomination. So it sits, for now.

Uh no. Nancy Abudu didn’t deadlock sh—-
The senate republicans deadlocked her.
Get it straight.

Feeling better about yourself in trying to note a distinction without difference?

Quit blaming the left for the issues of the right.

To be clear, saying that someone or something deadlocked in committee isn’t an assignment of blame. It’s a statement of fact. The Senate is divided 50-50. Abudu received 11 votes in favor of proceeding to the floor with the nomination from Dems and 11 votes against from Reps. People can argue the merits, or lack thereof, of the votes, but the fact is what it is. Have a good day.

To be clear. Republicans don’t have to deadlock qualified candidates.

Pryor, Grant, Luck and Brasher are not judges who would normally give DOJ warm and fuzzies. Republicans our of Alabama are a inique breed.

From one non lawyer to another, we simply can’t know. Cannon made a lot of bad calls in her ruling, which is kind of surprising to me, given her past. We don’t yet know which judges of the 11th circuit will decide this emergency issue. The 11th circuit tends to skew conservative, but I’d hope they want to clean up the ambiguities in Cannon’s order. She just wasn’t clear, and someone need to fix that.

Anonymous wrote:That was fast -- 11th circuit has given TFG's team until Tuesday to respond to DOJ's motion to block the classified documents from being part of the Special Master's review. Same day they have to appear before Dearie.

Are they up to the task? LOL

That was swift. Not screwing around.

Meaning what? Does the 11th C move this fast normally? What does their rapid response signify?

Why wouldn't TFG's lawyers be able to respond by Tuesday?

Ignore the PP. The order is standard procedure when dealing with a motion to stay. Probably issued by the clerk’s office. Nothing to see here.

Judge Dearie is not effing around.
