i think she looks great. stop nitpicking!

Hmmm... I'm torn.

Although the approved cover is much more polished and she looks more "glammed up," I actually think aesthetically, it is really stodgy. And the background is hella weird too, with that short yellow curtain and inexplicable table with brocade tablecloth right behind her. (??)

I wonder if Vogue was more chafing against this official pic and wanted something more spontaneous and edgy looking? I actually much prefer *Kamala* in that one (and the chucks) but yeah, don't get the background AT ALL. If you are going to go edgy/casual, it actually has to be more intentional and better designed, not less (i.e. artfully artless, etc.)

I truly adore Kamala Harris and I think she's beautiful. This cover is just awful. The outfit, the shirt, the sneakers, the background.

I think her sneakers are cute but for Vogue? Eh maybe not so bad if everything else wasn't so awful

I feel like that's the kind of backdrop I'd come up with in a hurry. I think the person who approved this didn't care for her.

Agree. I don't really like the jacket to begin with, but I like it even less paired with those pants with a black that doesn't match the jacket. And the t-shirt underneath? No.

There are a lot of great examples of mixing hi/lo - thing Sharon Stone in the Gap shirt and formal skirt from back in the day. Surely Vogue could have come up with something like that?

I don’t get this cover- isn’t Vogue a fashion magazine? That is not an inspirational look at all. Couldn’t they find a more flattering outfit or a more editorial look to the cover? Awful

Vogue made Kamala look bad on purpose. It's really very simple.

Now this Elle photo makes her look both beautiful and powerful. Posting the link because I can never get the image tag right.

I have to agree. Whether you like her or not, this is not A Vogue worthy cover shot. It’s Not that one thing is wrong; it’s almost everything. Vogue can make the most ordinary person look Glamorous; and they chose to make KH just look ordinary. She’s beautiful as-is, but Vogue doesn’t put people “as-is” on the cover. KH is learning that she has haters. Bad way to learn it, but she’s Madam VP

Horrible cover! What were they thinking? There is a beautiful picture of her on the cover of her book.

I like that it is different, casual and does not conform to beauty standards, Vogue or otherwise.

Anonymous wrote:Vogue screwed up. Harris looks uncomfortable in both the digital and print cover shots, though the digital cover is more appropriate for a woman who is making history. What I really want to know though is why IRL we only see Harris silent and sitting behind Biden. Her talents cannot be allowed to go to waste, especially with a president who is 78 years-old.

I think it's pretty standard for VPs to cede the spotlight to the POTUS. In the case of Harris, she's so much more dynamic (not to mention a novelty) that she might try extra hard not to grab attention.

She definitely chunked up past few months.

Isn't the theory everyone had from the day the election was called that the added bulk is her bullet proof vest? In the video clip of her talking to Biden while out for a job right after it was called, she doesn't look bulky.

Anna Wintour is shit for this.

Hopefully this is the end for her reign at Vogue.

I think they were going for something that just didn’t work. I think she looks cute (her face, the chucks)—but that’s a weird vibe for our (first female POC) VP. When I first saw it I thought it was fine but the more I look at it the less I like it. Do better, Vogue.
