That's a riot. He cares for his players and fosters good relationships? LOL. Okay sideline parent who knows nothing. While I can't say how I know, Bo trashes every single player behind their back with very racist, sexist, homophobic terms. The stuff he has said to other coaches about players is absolutely disgusting and horrifying and he is a lawsuit away from losing his license IMHO. He has the mouth of a sailor, and is ruled entirely by his ego. He may be an okay coach, but his absolute lack of character, his mouth, and his poor morals is the primary reason I will NEVER, EVER, EVER let him near my children. They might learn some things about playing the game from him, but all the negative stuff listed above that they would be privy too far outweighs the benefits.

As a side note -the guy is the poster boy of a manic depressive.

Lol if he trashes his players then why do the come to play soccer for his club (viva). Even before viva/villarreal came in bo would coach u16,u17,u18, for aufc and he would have 2 to 3 teams in each of teams he coached. Also every age group thats wasn’t coached by him would have 1 or no teams in thats age group.

Why don't you read, idiot. I said behind their backs, i.e., as in to the other coaches. If, as a parent, knew how my son was talked about by Bo to other COACHES, in the most vile, sexists, homophobic, racist terms, I would be horrified, no matter how old they are. Not to mention how he berates his players at times on the sidelines or during practice. Kids think if an adult is acting/talking that way, especially in a position of leadership, it's normal, so they don't think twice about it. It's not. I literally have shook my head and said if I knew he said the things about my children that I have heard about him saying to other coaches to his players, I would find a way to bring a civil suit.

As for the reference to being manic depressive- it's not to make light of mental disorders. But to truly point out Bo suffers untreated from issues that affect his mental capacity to regulate his emotions, and if its not well known by the parents, it is in the coaching community.

Just an observation here. I just read a quote above saying "I would find a way to bring a civil suit" .. Why?? Im not a fan of Bo either but to thought of a civil suit over words is such a problem with soft candyass people today. You would get more respect approaching him yourself verbally or phisically than cowardly filing a civil suit. If you have an issue approach and discuss face to face stop the soft ill sue you mentality. Be a man don't hire someone to to try to get money because he said something harsh about your kid . People say harsh stuff about your kid all the time when your not their. Teachers, coaches neighbors other kids, your extended family. its called life for everyone who thinks your kid is an awesome stud. The're 2 people who thinks he's a below average sissy chump. just my 2 cents now carry on bloaks cheers!!

So you are telling me you are lying because you said if you heard it you would file a civil case. Lol the amount of stuff that people accuse bo of is hilarious. You just proved that bo doesn’t say any of this. LOL

Sorry bud. If you can't figure out how I know what Bo is saying to other coaches about players, then you probably shouldn't be commenting on these MOM boards. Maybe my statement about a civil suit is overblown. And yes, parents, teachers, etc., talk about our children behind their backs- I get that. I have family members in education, and they talk about kids, sure, but perverse language regarding race, sex, and sexual orientation is never brought into it. Nor is it when most parents talk about other children. The level, degree and regularity to which Bo profanely belittles his players behind their backs is in a league all of its own. But I get it. You love him because he has this cool English accent and spouts off bullshit and for some reason that gives him immunity in the DC soccer world. That's fine. You will learn the hard way, as so many others have.

He is U—16 and has played for numerous programs and coaches since he started playing travel what seems like a decade ago.

We have been told his coach is returning and I don’t know of any players that are leaving. I couldn’t name a single player or parent that doesn’t respect and adore the coach. How often can you say that in this area?

We’ve also heard that both the ABGC and Villarreal entities will be coming out with a joint statement soon. Sounds like there is some sort of resolution and soccer will go on.

In any case, no matter the outcome, if the team remains Villarreal or goes back to being Annandale, we will return. In the end, it’s all about coaches, if your child is having fun, and if a player has college aspirations, are they getting the exposure they desire.

My son has received all of that. To write off an entire program based on some internal squabble sounds more like a competing program trying to undercut Villarreal or a parent with a personal ax to grind.

As with any situation, I recommend basing your opinion on your own experience. We’ve had terrible experiences with other ‘name’ programs including some mentioned on this thread. We’ve also had players come over to Villarreal mid season from some of the teams mentioned here. Players move around all the time if they aren’t getting playing time at one team, don’t like the coach they play for, etc.

Hope any parent reading this doesn’t base a decision on rumor and innuendo and gives the program a chance. We did and it’s been the best decision we’ve ever made.

As a parent of a 03 boy, I can't help but second this. Team is also expected to travel to Spain for spring break. Should be a great experience for them.

Club soccer is cutthroat, but the reality is that even most of the best players for any club in the area won't play Division I soccer. So in the end, it's about what they learned and how they grew as people.

Disagree, D1 should be a very attainable goal. Spain travel is a lot of $$ to waste. Yet they cannot develop D1 players. Really?

They can. And they have. And will. But how many Division I players each year are there in NOVA and Md? How many clubs are in the area? Do the math. Most of the kids won't be D1. But everyone chases.

Really?

We took our kids to Barcelona in 2017, and they're not playing D1.

Granted, they're not playing travel soccer, either.

That's great. Hope they had a wonderful experience. I'm not sure why you would judge their decisions. The kids that have been have had great time and so will those that go in the future. Nobody thinks they're going and going to be signed and play pro there.

He is U—16 and has played for numerous programs and coaches since he started playing travel what seems like a decade ago.

That's laughable. Your boy is in his primary playing years and you're staying with VIVA in the hopes he'll get to travel to Spain? It's the same recruiting line Bo and gang pulled last year to bring in players and retain staff. And guess what? No one went to Spain.....
