Yikes, I Googled "Georgetown Day" and "Secret Service" to see if there were any articles about views on the ability to secure GDS's campus, and I found this ...
http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/crime/feds-probe-dc-school-prank I must've missed this when it occurred. The linked document with quotes from the email is pretty disappointing to see from the GDS community. |
I can't tell you "exactly what the Secret Service thinks" but am familiar enough with what details do to secure areas to speculate: the presence of two apartment buildings bordering the school lot was probably the most problematic aspect of the equation. The campus being off a main street but hemmed in the back by Canal Road was also probably seen as a liability. |
Unbelievable. |
You sound like one of those people who has watched every Star Trek episode and consider themselves an expert on space travel. Did you get a special Secret Service badge on your exit from the White House tour? |
And you sound like someone who does not mind flapping away with your ignorance on full display. If you have ever had to be protected or work with someone who has, which is not unusual in this town, you learn the hierarchy of concerns for details, the difference between counter/surveillance, etc. Nearly every department runs their own protection - it is not as if there are only 20 Secret Service agents and five people under protection in the DMV. |
Did GDS expel the student who sent the racist emails? |
If you look at the enrollment numbers that GDS provides the neighborhood anc's, you will notice they were under enrolled by 2 students in 2009. Perhaps they were holding spots for someone, since they have a deep wait list. |
They were holdog spots for the student with the racist email? |
Oh nevermind. I get it now. My mistake. You weren't responding to the question about racist emails. You're trying to say they were holding those spots in hopes the Obamas would choose GDS, right? Can you plz provide a link to those ANC filings? |

I like that episode where the guy is stuck in the hover chair but it turns out he has been given a gift from aliens that allows to think he is a super special Secret Service agent. |
|
You realize that was a 2006 article? |
Yes, I do. Did GDS expel him? |
Am not familiar with this incident but am aware that a student was expelled more recently for a similar act. |
Dunno. It happened in 2006. |
