How down could it be. They've got a number of D1 - 3 recruits. The school, facilities and upside shouldn't lead to any downside. If they could get the 5 star to realize he's probably closer to a 3 star then this year will be great. |
Ok, I will bite on a reason not to count Prep out. Its JV team went undefeated in the IAC. Lost in the final championship game because the 4 best players were rostered for the varsity tourney game and couldn't play. So lost to Landon (barely) even though it beat Landon by 6 goals ten days before. Also beat St Johns and Gonzaga. Almost beat McDonough; lost in last minute. Unquestionably some talent in the 28 class. I know it is just JV. But it is a data point. |
Using varsity players to inflate your JV record isn't a sign of a healthy program. |
JV records is becoming irrelevant these days. floating down varsity players (I assume they were freshman who didn't get meaningful mins on varsity) to inflate your JV's overall team record... I would taka JV performance as a questionable data point.
|
Floating down varsity players is actually bad for a lacrosse program. It steals time and provides no incentive for new players to pick up a stick and try harder. The same can be said of the opposite where schools have bloated varsity rosters of 45 players to satisfy parent's egos.
As far as GP goes, they've had a losing season for 2 years at the JV level. The good 3-4 freshman on varsity aren't enough to build a program around. The one freshman from 2 years ago has already transferred due to the toxic program and the sophomore transfers. Another might be done due to injuries. If they lose the GA kid, that'll really hurt. |
ouch doesn't sound like a very supportive team culture |
Knock on 5 star shooting selection not team culture. |
The 5 Star is really that bad? The team has bigger problems and it has to do with coaching! A Coach should hold players accountable and to coach them to play the team way. As PP stated Coach K is old school and doesn't tolerate club/hero ball play. Oh and more importantly Alums and parents should spend more time supporting instead of complaining about little Johnny not playing or losing. |
say what you want about Prep's coaching situation, for those who know the local lacrosse landscape, the Hoyas have the best 2028 class in the region.
Its critical that the incoming coach finds away to keep them together as its a very talented group. Rival Landon and Bullis 2028 classes are very weak. |
we've hit a low point on here if Prep community is now touting the results of their JV team. |
The person that posted that said it was a single data point. Do you understand what that means? |
The teams we played were doing the exact same thing. This was meant to be an apples to apples data point. The varsity players didn’t play in games where varsity had game same day, which happened a number of times. The same as the team we were playing. |
And note how for many months people were dumping on Prep’s season before someone made this point. Hardly touting. Laughable. And look at that the post was responding to. |
Is it true that HC from McDonough was on campus yesterday re Prep? |
They hired the McD assistant six weeks ago. It doesn’t take someone with a Congressional membership to see that this has been in the works for some time. |
