At all? Nah they’ll be back in by Thursday for sure with Wednesday a 50/50. But Monday and Tuesday are a lock.

If we get 10-12 inches we will be closed for the week. It’s not going to break freezing and you can’t move that much snow easily the plows just end up blocking everything and neighborhoods will be last. The main roads will be fine by Wednesday but not the neighborhoods/walkways.

I’m a principal. Let me help you:

There will be no school on Monday.

I’m empty nester, former SAHM with a marketing degree from a party school.

THERE WILL BE NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY.

NP. I love you

Forecast for Thursday from NWS: about 15 degrees at 6 AM and a wind chill around 0 degrees. I predict M/Tu are closed, and a two hour delay for Wed/Thu.

The snow totals were just increased this morning. It’s not going to stop snowing until Monday afternoon. You seriously think the roads will be plowed enough by Wednesday morning to go back to school on Wednesday? Clearly you’re not from this area.

They’re not going to close school for a week for a foot of snow. That’s insane

Yesterday I saw they had already announced for Monday and Tuesday.

Where are you seeing this? I can't find anything on the public website or the Hub, nor has there been any emails from Reid.

My DD texted me from a friends house telling me the same thing -- they heard Mon/Tues are snow days.

I'm certain tomorrow will be a snow day but if Tuesday as well, woooo! ; )

NOTHING has been announced by FCPS for any day of this week.
Who has posted? Culpeper County.
https://www.culpeperschools.org/

If you look I was replying to the post that said we should follow Culpeper’s lead. The “they” I was referencing was Culpeper.

OK…you are assuming we get that much snow. I agree, if we get 8-12 inches, we will be closed past Tuesday. But I predict that we will get less, and kids will be back on Wednesday, with a delay for Wednesday and Thursday for cold. Maybe a longer delay or closure for Thursday? It looks pretty cold at the morning bus stops even with a 2 hour delay.

Sounds like you are hoping they haven't cancelled for being cold in 5+ years. I can guarantee they will not do that

Ot won't get cold enough to cancel/delay for cold. But melting and refreezing could lead to delays for many days.

We got about a foot a few years back - I think it was early January 2022. It was measured less at DCA, but they are in a snow hole and most of Fairfax definitely got in the 10”+ range. And I believe they did close for a week then. HOWEVER, there was a lot of speculation that they really wanted to close because of the Covid surge at the time. My memory of the situation is it would have been fine by Friday and probably Thursday with maybe a 2 hour AM delay.

They aren’t going to do anything in terms of plowing the surface streets and parking lots until after the snow ends. Just the highways and major roads like the Parkway and 28 and such. That’s not going to happen until seemingly Monday late afternoon, so the bulk of the snow removal will be on Tuesday. I truly don’t think they’ll be able to get it all done until Wednesday afternoon some time. I would prepare for 3 full days of closures and 2 days of delayed starts.

Chuck Bell on NBC4 is staying with 5-8” due to sleet mixing in.
