Let's make this easy for you. Hi. I'm Beau. I'm a ref and a writer with no ties to Valor. I don't live in that area. I'll see if I know any of their coaches ... hmmmmm ... no ... I'm aware of who Dylan Sutherland is, but that's it on the boys side. Girls side .... hmmmmmm ... no. Where does Mike Jorden coach now? My posts of the last 10 hours are from: 6/12 22:26 6/12 16:24 6/12 16:19 (the "Dude chill" post -- I've written about that WAGS experience before) Yesterday, I went through the Copa and Predator brackets to examine how serious the 8th grader-vs.-12th grader issue really is. Incidentally, the Valor tournament has U8s, so yes, 7-year-olds will be doing All-Stars. (Yes, mostly from two clubs.) I'm open to hearing legit criticism of any club, but these arguments are being undercut quite a bit by some alternative facts. |
Projection much??? And yes 7 year olds do all stars. For Herndon girls their age groups are U7/U8 and U9/U10. The first all star tournament my daughter participated in was the Herndon fall all star tournament a month after turning 6. Theoretically for the fall tournament if a kid has a late nov/early dec birthday they could be 5. |
Its been established as a fact that there are 8th graders playing in a bracket against high school seniors. Perspective taking exercise for you. You show up for your "young kid's" first game. Say, 3rd graders. Your opponent is a team of 7th graders. And you have no problem with that, right? Its just for fun and all the kids who are there just want to play more soccer! |
Sounds like you need to take your QAnon conspiracy theories elsewhere. Personally, I am a CYA mom who posted once. And my 7yo feels proud. No sympathy just pointing out that’s it’s a rec all stars and who cares. Lastly, WTF cares if loudoun beats them. It’s rec soccer. Your ”little man” syndrome is blindingly apparent. |
Yeah- that would suck for the 3rd graders. But that’s life and it’s 2 games, get knocked out and call it a day. It’s just life. Oh well. But I can also see parents being pissed, and it be demoralizing for kids. I figure my child will get bored and move to the next thing eventually Making sure little man knows I posted my 3rd time just in case he/ she needs to suck its pacifier to calm down. |
I did not grow up in an area as dense as the DMV. My U-16 team played in a U-19 league for better competition. There were no issues. |
You were an 8th grade boy (2009) playing kids four years older (2005) and it was fine? That's the age span here. |
| On the flip side imagine being a high school team of all stars and when you drive to the game you realize AllStars means you get to play your little brother … and you paid for this? |
|
And your entitled suburban mom syndrome is apparent. Sounds like some Valor parents feelings got hurt because they're in the lamest all star game and no one gives a crap. Enjoy your lame tournament and do your husband a favor and don't make him go to the lame tournament to spend it with you. |
This is rec, not travel. Yes in travel kids will often play up if they are deemed to be that talented. Putting potential 8th grade rec kids against high school upperclassmen is dangerous especially since it was only done because of lack of teams... not because the 8th graders are that strong and willing to do it. |
Herndon All Stars is a great tournament. No one is complaining about that. |

There is a huuuuuuge difference between
- 3rd graders playing with 7th graders and - 8th graders (and older 8th graders at that) playing with 12th graders Would I want to do it? No. But apparently Fredericksburg is fine with it. |
Would have your high school freshmen kid play against college freshmen? It's the same age difference. It sounds a tad bit absurd to me. |
Haha, let the poor guy enjoy his Father's Day. |
