Not one top Stars player will be attending SSSAS. They are all public school kids

Far west, maybe.

Hero’s people please chime in. Where are the Hero's girls going?

Also would be interested to know why Hero’s is spelled like that. Is Hero the club founder? Is it Hero’s lacrosse club.

There is also at least one local top player on M&D, who I would guess will be attending public. I think the Hero's girls are mostly headed to private. Pride is a mix of public and private, with probably more than 50% headed to private. Don't forget about Stars, which has at least a few of the top local players who I think are staying public. Not sure whether any of these girls will be attending Visi.

There are 3 local players all on M&D and all public school.

Just because they are currently public does not mean they stay that way, and vice versa. And some kids switch privates so you never do know.

Top Stars player is likely attending NCS, currently attends another private school.

I believe 6-7 of Stars players are slated for Battlefield and 1 M&D

Top Stars girls always seem to end up at SSSA

If the top stars girls are going to make Capital, there is no reason for their parents to pay for a private HS education. The VA public schools are a better option than the MD public schools so there isn’t as much of a need to seek out a private school. The recruiting will be done through club, so that removes that factor from the equation as well. Look at the 24s and 25s. Several VA public school girls have found homes at D1 programs, including top 25 programs.

People don’t go to private schools to play a non revenue sport like lacrosse. They go for a better education, better teachers, better administration, and better overall experience. It’s a bonus that the lacrosse is better.

I believe that 3-4 2928 Stars players are going, or will go, to SSAS.

Recommend caution on using the "top" adjective, especially if you are a team insider.

Reason? What if the player or parent wants a more challenging academic environment? An all-girls experience? Smaller class size? Religious foundation? Enforcement of dress and other codes of conduct that instill discipline and promote school community? A higher level of competitive league lacrosse? Coaches free to lead team prayer and ask God to keep his / her players safe without fear of starting a lawsuit? Robust tutoring, support resources, and athletic facilities? Participation in school traditions, some dating back hundreds of years? Being part of strong alumni networks that rival some universities? Staying connected to their schools years after they graduate through fundraising and other events year after year?

There are economic and other advantages to attending a public HS, yes. But even for those on a Capital lax path, for those who can afford it and want a different experience, there are many reasons why they would want to choose a private school.

Those are not all true when you compare privates to the better public High schools in VA. Smaller class size is the only guarantee. The smaller privates don’t have the enrollment needed to offer the variety of classes that many of the public’s can offer. Your stats of better education, teachers, and overall experience are 100% opinion.

Academics, lacrosse, and community are all important factors for some families.

Extremely well-said. Concur. "A higher-level of competitive league lacrosse" is the most germane point, among many good ones, for this thread. If your daughter is playing for a top club, having to carry a mediocre school team is not the most fun, nor best lacrosse experience.

One more note. Not that this is a general, public/private school debate, and recognizing that privates are not a realistic options for many families, I would add better college acceptance results. Take a look at the Navience scattergrams, which show whether applicants at certain GPA and test score levels were accepted at various schools, for some of the area publics, compared to the college acceptance lists on the private school's websites. I was very surprised by the disparity, and along with lacrosse opportunities, we are applying to privates as a result, even though we are in a good public school pyramid.
