I am sure that season 2 will include Ellie finding out that Joel liked about the Fireflies.

Wow though. What a scene.

Joel lied in the game too, right?

Yep, the series was very true to the game.
In game, you can kill the doctor with his scalpel, and I also killed all the nurses lol. It's also possible to toss flame thrower into the surgery room and watch them burn.

Was the birth scene in the game? Do they explain her immunity?

I don’t believe so. The podcast indicated it was a new scene that was created for the show. Ellie does have the note from her mother and switchblade, but the game doesn’t explain it.

This wasn't a traumatic birth scene at ALL.

She was chased through the woods by a zombie, bitten, gave birth while being attacked, had to cut her own cord after realizing that due to the timing of these events probably got her new daughter infected, and had to sit for hours with a knife to her own throat while her hungry baby cried. No, not traumatic at all.

there's a difference between a traumatic scene - which I grant this was, and a traumatic BIRTH which this was not. there were no complications, she didn't bleed out, the kid didn't stop breathing. Therein likes the contrast.

Maybe the baby slid out of her so easily because she's had multiple children.

I enjoyed the David actor's acting similar to I enjoyed King Joffery!

I don't know about 3 seasons. Where did you get that? The Wiki says:

Druckmann and Mazin suggested a second season would immediately cover the sequel, The Last of Us Part II (2020), to avoid filler; Part II is expected to span the course of multiple seasons. He does not want the series to overtake the games. The writers ensured characters remained true to their developments in Part II in case the show received more seasons.

I got it from DH who works in TV (and we live in Hollywood).

Being bitten by a zombie and (as far as she knows) having your seconds old & is still connected to you baby get infected isn't a traumatic birth?? The mother lied to Marlene when she said she was bit after the cord was cut. She was bit before and had every reason to fear for her daughter's life as a result of a "complication" during the birth.

no the birth itself was not traumatic. being bitten was, certainly but it was not part of the birth process - it was extraneous circumstances. I am going to stop explaining this because it's not getting through.

NP here. Isn’t this significant though? IMO this is how Ellie became immune.

It is significant, it is. I'm just...tired. Maybe I need a break from TV.

Casting of Ellie's mom was spot on.

Completely agree. I thought they looked so much alike. It’s very cool how they are pulling in actors/esses from the game and giving them parts in the show.

Seriously is this a bunch of men or women that are sanctimonious about their unmedicated birthing experiences years later

You are way off. I medicated and in a hospital bed, nearly bled to death. Can we get back to the show now?

Please. I do not understand why someone is this wrapped up in the birth not being traumatic enough. WTF.

This show really wrecked me every week starting with episode three, but I still think it was really fantastic. Just when I thought they couldn't hit me any harder each week, they did. Joel's choice was so controversial, so awful and so understandable at the same time.

Both the lead actors did such a great job. The addition of the game voice actors was such a nice touch.

+1

I doubt she was compartmentalizing her various traumas in the final hours of her life.
