Disagree. If Oakton can play competitively with the others listed (SR, Visi, PVI, GC, SJC) it deserves to be in the same class. That’s unknown since Oakton hasn’t played any of those other teams. Just because it’s a public school has no bearing on anything. It’s the record and strength of schedule over an entire season that matters. Not the past or the future. It’s why no one has objected to BI as a “second tier” program despite the team’s huge history of past success. Their performance this year is what determines where they should fall. Similarly, if SSAS can’t play competitively with the other teams in the listed top category this year, it too deserves to be in a different category this year, regardless of who the coach is. |

Oakton is not part of this conversation? See VHSL 2023. Oakton does not play a strong enough schedule to be ranked in this grouping period - Just because they are dominating a public school district does not mean their schedule is comparable. |

| Oakton can never be apart of this conversation no matter what the talent year to year because oakton is a zoned school and the ISL and VISSA are schools you chose to attend and pay for. So….congratulations to Oakton for having a solid year. I hope your recreation programs around your school continue to do well. |

Why do people here use name calling? It is so immature. Would you use that quote if your name was attached to this post? What kind of example are you setting for your daughter? This is clearly a SSSA, SR or BI parent. (SR being the most immature and ill behaved parents of the ISL lot with daughters who reflect that behavior) |

SJC is a clear tier 2. Tier 1 isn't worried about them. |

The discussion is about top tier DMV HS teams. Doesn’t matter if they’re public or private. Oakton has shown it can hang with SAAS. One win doesn’t get them into this discussion. But if they put other top tier teams on their schedule next year (Visi, SR, GC, PVI, SJC) and play them competitively, they - like any other team - have a right to be a part of the conversation. How can they not? |

Oakton or any public school will NOT consistently hang with the top privates. The reason being is, you get what you get from the zoning of the schools. Most of the time you see 1 maybe 2 years that a public is very good, then they drop off the face of the earth until another couple years goes by or perhaps never comes by again. Oakton has a decent team this year because the talent level overall in publics has dropped tremendously. Watch what happens to a team like oakton next year, they will be absolutely horrible and lucky if they get to 500 win percentage.
I'm all for publics as well, but they just cannot hang on a consistant basis. Oaktons strength of schedule is really horrible, just take a look. Congrats to oakton for going undefeated so far and good luck to them. Lets move on. |

| There are a number of public school teams consistently on national top 25 list. Perfect examples would be Darien, Nee Canaan and other CT and NY schools. I don’t think Oakton is good enough to compete against tier 1 (visi/SR/SJC/PVI etc) but I could get behind including them in the convo as they have proven to hang with SSSAS. |
