Unless you are worried about someone shooting at your from 100 meters away, a pistol would be just as deadly in all those scenarios as a rifle. To be frank, nothing is going to happen unless you can change the second amendment

Yes, crazy people wanting to kill large numbers of people will be stopped from killing so many people. And slowed down, so police aren't too scared to respond.

One guy with one pistol and a limited amount of ammo is not the threat we have right now. It's a crazy guy with enough ammo to shoot up a few classes of elementary school students and the ability to do so in record time and make the police fearful for their lives.

You severely underestimate the leathality of a pistol and a couple of 10 round magazines. Go look into the historical record and it will shock you.

Semi-automatics have never been banned. You could buy them during the assault weapon ban. Manufacturers just designed around the ban.

Unfortunately that is not true. Gun crime stayed the same during the 10 year ban. No report out of hundreds has any statistical evidence that an assault weapons ban had any impact on anything other than the flow of guns to Mexico for cartel wars.

Maybe the ban was too short, or not broad enough or whatever- but gun crime/violence was not impacted by a limited ban.

If you look at trends in the last 3 years, road rage shootings are up the most in California and they have the strictest gun laws going. Those highway shootings are pistols. Gun. Violence is way bigger than rifles painted black.
