Arguably the richest high school in the county, with unlimited developmental resources, couldn't beat a Cosby team that doesn't have 1/1000th of the youth program that NOVA has |
Interesting story. Your kid played Valor this fall for the first time then tried out for HS soccer and made Varsity? There are no Freshman varsity players at any HS local to Valor. None at Centreville, Chantilly, Westfield, Fairfax, Herndon or Robinson. There is one at Oakton who doesn't play for Valor. Valor guy, it would have been more believable if you had said JV in your story. Top Valor team freshmen tried out and didn't even make JV at our HS. Its hard to make JV at local publics. |
Not sure where you live but FCPS publics have 100-200 boys try out for soccer. Soccer and basketball teams can be nearly impossible to make for boys. No clue for girls side. |
| What's a "Cosby team"? |
|
Chiming in, my kid plays JV for SLHS. They have a few freshmen on Varsity but none played Valor.
What a bullsh!t story lol. Valor paid poster is SO bad at this I almost feel bad for him. |
| Wait wait you guys missed the part of the Bery Believable True Story where poster's alleged Valor Freshman on Varsity *started*. LOL! |
| Which mythical HS is this.... |
100-200 is a gross over exaggeration. You do realize that there are 28 high schools, right? That means 2800-5600 kids are trying out for boys soccer? I can assure you, that is not the case throughout the vast majority of high schools in the county. Get out of your bubble. |
The one that spanked the yuppy McLean team in the 6A finals last year lol |
Soccer is the one sport where even poor kids try out. Which high school doesn't have at least 100 boys trying out for soccer? |
|
Whether FCPS HS soccer is "good" or not is irrelevant to the fact that it is very hard to make the boys' teams at large publics.
|
| He's a freshman and he started ya'll. Its a high school in Canada, you wouldn't know her. |
There are literally programs without a JV team... |
This isn’t some taxpayer funded program. If there are enough parents willing to pay for their kids to play travel sports, why would you try to deny them that? |
The best boy players in FCPS don't even play for their HS bc the play is so poor. It's an extremely prevalent issue at a lot of FCPS schools. |
