People hate it when you tie those words together like you think that explains history.

It's childishly simplistic thinking whose only purpose is to show us that you think colonialism and genocide are bad.

The definition of colonialism is complicated and depends on context.

No one is making an argument that we should have more genocide.

Please detail good colonialism.

It's kind of weird how the only "bad" colonialism is western colonialism. Never mind the brutal campaigns of conquest and subjugation that the Russians engaged in that took them all the way to the far reaches of the Pacific. Never mind the Soviet tactics of violent coups and destabilization, arming violent warlords and extremists all across Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia. Never mind that they still continue this today with Wagner and other groups. Never mind that Iran has been funding and supporting groups to destabilize and attack in many countries, like the Houthis, Hezbollah, and others. That's ALSO colonialism. Weird that the entire fact of the spread of Islam in a swath spanning from Africa well into Asia including the Balkans and many other areas came about through violent conquest, subjugation, enslavement and colonization but somehow that's ignored. Never mind that many other countries like China are also as big as they are because of a legacy of violent conquest and colonialization. Never mind that ALL of those powers engaged in genocide. Just ignore all of history, the only evil powers are Israel and the US.

Look, friend - are you really this ignorant of history? Delusional? Or a deliberate liar? Regardless of which, none are a win for you.

DP. You bring a good point. I think what Palestinians are really upset about is that they never got the chance to be independent at all .

It went from Greeks to Romans to Arabs to Turks to Brits to Jews While everyone else became an independent state but Jews also had this problem of always being conquered and never really being a free independent state until recently .

How can Palestinians experience the same independence and safety that Israelis have? I’m not sure how to answer that.

Hamas has claimed they don’t mind recognizing Israel as their neighbor so long as Palestinians get their own independent state.

The problem is Israel won’t let Palestinians run their own independent state with their own military and control
Of their own airspace because they believe that they would take the opportunity to attack and they do have a point about that.

I don’t know what the solution is except for possible US or NATO controlled airspace and borders to cancel out strikes or attacks from both sides but if those entities get attacked then everyone would be forced into war .

The problem is Israel tested Palestinian semi independence with Gaza and Hamas used the opportunity to grow militarily (some Palestinians would say at with Israel’s encouragement and aiding and abetting ) so now Israel isn’t even considering anything but annexation and closing all negotiations regarding any sort of resemblance to Palestinian sovereignty

The problem also is Palestinians in the West Bank do not like Mahmoud Abbas and consider him a non entity, irrelevant, and a neutered president from a dying party. The younger generation supports Hamas . The neighboring Arab street also likes Hamas over Mahmoud Abbas. Egypt has hinted to the U.S. and to Israel that they do not want Abbas and the PA in charge of Gaza and they prefer to stick with Hamas -the devil they know. The West Bank supports Hamas more than Gaza does which is no doubt because they aren’t suffering as much casualties so are a further removed from the Hamas caused war.

Oh yes, those chants "intifada intifada," "from the river to the sea," and "no two state solution" def suggest that what these folks want is peace between neighbors.

If Hamas wanted a peaceful piece of land on which to build a prosperous and safe Palestinian society - guess what, that's what they had as recently as Oct 6.

Hasbara ministry has found this thread. Copy paste in full swing.

Nope. Just a moderate Jew who dislikes Netanyahu, and has come to dislike the Palestinian cause even more. There were pro-Palestinian protestors marching through my little city last night - and as they shouted "intifada intifada" I started wondering how long until they start blowing up buses here, too. They are violent there, and they look like they are about to get violent here, too. By any means necessary, right? By any means necessary? But we're not supposed to recognize what those words actually mean?

Tell us, o the fragile one: what is the appropriate response to settler violence that wouldn't send you cowering in the corner?

I'm not the poster you're talking to, but the answer would be to vote out Netanyahu and Likud. It wasn't always like this. Violent settlers should be jailed. And, Israel needs better planning and policies - because if they fix their system, there's actually enough room for everyone who wants it without needing to encroach on Palestinian communities.

What a novel idea! Tell us: how can Palestinians vote out Netanyahu? Is there a secret method out there that only you know about? Clarifying: what is the appropriate way for the PALESTINIANS to respond to settler violence?

Because they do need "their own" anything. They can choose to live as part of Israeli society like other Arabs in Israel do. Ok they may want "their own" this and that but Israel and the rest of us are not required to care. You can talk talk talk all the day long.

I am intrigued with your thinking that all Palestinians need to do to become Israeli citizens is choose to be them. Please elaborate.

It amazes me they think that makes Isrsel safer. It’s essentially calling for a one state solution as well.

Palestinians who lost their babies and mothers and fathers and spouses aren’t able to happily move on from that and move to Israel with a smile. Some would rather choose death than live among and work for Israelis. That is what keeps Israel safer? I would think such a move would make Israel less safe

Would Israelis want to live in a Palestinian state ran by Hamas? Of course not

You misunderstood sarcasm. Palestinians were never given an option to “integrate peacefully into the Israeli society”. So it’s stupid to reproach them for not doing it.

You might want to do some reading on why Jordan and Egypt hasn't given Palestinians living there the option to integrate into Jordanian or Egyptian society. Or maybe read up on how Palestinians pushed Lebanon into civil war. They keep proving over and over again that they are incapable of peacefully integrating into anyone's society.

Palestinians were never offered a path to Israeli citizenship. Whoever talks about peaceful integration into Israeli society is lying.

Oh yes, the people who want to destroy Israel and kill Jews - why haven't they been fully integrated into Israel? It's such a mystery!

Why do you think Egypt hasn't offered them Egyptian citizenship? Can you answer that question without somehow blaming Israel?

I don't care about any of this. I just care about pointing out that the notion of "why don't Palestinians peacefully integrate into the Israeli society" is bullcrap.

As has been pointed out, it's a function of Palestinians repeatedly shoving a stick into the spokes of their own bicycle and then wondering why they crashed and are lying bleeding on the sidewalk. This has played out for decades. They are their own worst enemies.

Nope. You're lying. A path to Israeli citizenship has never been on the table for the Palestinians regardless of how they behaved. And by design too: no one wants more Arab voters in Israel. So, stop lying that Palestinians could have "integrated peacefully into the Israeli society" if they behaved better. This option has never ever been on the table. This was the original driver of Nakba: to ensure Jewish majority by any means.

It's been clear since the formation of Israel that only Jews were welcomed so anyone talking about integrating Palestinians into Israel probably needs to brush up on Israel's history. Bibi has worked tirelessly to undermine any hope of a two state solution and has made it clear that he intends to annex the West Bank. Palestinians will never have a state - not as long as Israel exists and religious nutcases rule Israel

Egypt hasn’t offered them Egyptian citizenship because it’s their position, like the 100+ countries who have attempted to secure a U.N. ceasefire resolution over the past few months (and dozens of other U.S. blocked resolutions over the past several decades), that their rightful place is their ancestral homeland that Israel continues to encroach upon.

Egypt believes, like many, many other countries, that to offer them citizenship is to absolve Israel of what should be its responsibility to resolve the ongoing, decades long conflict through concessions.

It sounds like you and several others here believe in the stereotype that Palestinians are all inherently and unavoidably disposed to behave a certain way. It’s sadly ironic that one group that has created an entire culture around battling others for stereotyping them is so content to stereotype other groups.

Oh please. They don't want the kinds of people who do 10.7 type things to flood their country any more than anyone else does. They can couch it in terms of not sanctioning Israel's existence - except they have relations with Israel. And they know well that they are better off with Israel being Israel than anyone else taking over that land.

I don't believe Palestinians are inherently violent - but I do believe that the Palestinians who commit these violent acts ruin any chance for everyone else. They hide among civilians - how is anyone supposed to tell them apart from the "peaceful" Palestinians who don't support that "intifada intifada" "by any means necessary" " no two state solution" sort of rhetoric and behavior.

Can you point me to Palestinian orgs that are calling for peace right now? Because I see a lot of Jews and Israelis who want peace - and I'm just not seeing that reciprocated a lot of places. I see calls for ceasefires - but the people calling for a ceasefire are the same ones chanting "intifada intifada," so we know what that's about.

Look, there are almost 2 million Arabs living in Israel - about 20% of the country's population. And no one is proposing to throw them out. They are living there peacefully.

The Palestinians in Gaza WERE able to come and go when they had jobs in Israel or needed medical treatment, or all kinds of other things. But I don't know why you would think that it would ever make sense to fold Gaza into Israel. Who in the world would actually want that? You think the Palestinians who are angry to the point of rape and slaughter about Israel existing at all, want to live under Israeli rule?! You think this is a plan that should be proposed? "Hey, you keep saying 'from the river to the sea' and 'death to all Jews' - but wanna come join our country?"

I don't know why you think this is a gotcha.

I don’t understand why America gives Israel a single penny. We aspire to be a pluralistic, secular democracy and Israel is a terrorist state organized around the principle that people who claim to belong to a particular religion should control a country and a region and oppress those who aren’t the same religion.

Screw Israel and those in charge of it. I don’t want a single dime of my taxes going to a bunch of thugs in another country who think they alone are God’s chosen people. It is beyond obscene that Israel gets billions in aid while Americans can barely make ends meet and have to pay far more than Israelis for education and health care.

They don’t hide among civilians though. Hamas specifically built the tunnels away from civilians so that their stockpiles don’t get destroyed by Israel.

Uh.

All settlements in the West Bank “encroach on a Palestinian communities” unless there has been equivalent land swaps. You realize that’s where the second state in a two state solution goes?

The settlements are a moral catastrophe which most of the world sees as illegal.

How can they build a society ? Their land doesn’t even connect, they don’t have their own currency, water rights, military, don’t have an airport? They can’t build their own economy when they have to pay Israel for water and electric and use Israeli money

There are in fact millions of Palestinian Arabs who are full Israeli citizens living peaceful lives among the rest of Israelis. That's an absolute fact that spits in the face of your claim that it's a total lie. Some of them have even been elected to the Knesset and served in Cabinet level offices for Israel. So yes, citizenship has been available to Palestinians. However, that said, it is conditional and the conditions got a lot stricter and narrower after the numerous attempts to attack Israel and the numerous genocidal proclamations about wiping Israelis off the face of the planet, clearing the path for Palestinians, from the river to the sea...
