Were you red shirted?, repeated a grade?, skipped a grade? How old in Kindergarten?
Just curious to know if things have changed. I was 5 in K, graduated HS when I was 17. |
| 5 in K, 18 to graduate |
| 18 |
| Went on time, graduated at 18. |

I have a very middle of the school year birthday (March),
so I was 18 when I graduated high school, entered K at 5 and turned 6 halfway through the year. Our school system didn't allow for skipping grades (unless coming from another area and then you had to take tests to see your placement) and instead allowed you to take upper level classes if you were advanced. |
| 5, 18. like 90% of Gen X'ers and Y'ers. |

Red shirting not allowed then, for good reason. I was 17 upon graduation. Would NOT have it any other way. Was able to get B.S., grad school, law school and doctorate out of the way before starting "life" while still young! |
| Graduated about a week after my 18th birthday (in June.) started on time @ 5. Got my own apartment about a month or a little less before graduation. |
I don't really get this. I was also 17 when I graduated but don't feel 1 year between myself and other classmates made that much of a big deal between getting all of that done "before starting "life" while still young". I have a B.S., two masters, and an advanced certification degree. Still don't see much of a difference between myself and most of my college/after college friends who were almost all 1 year older. |

I was 4-about-to-turn-5 at the start of kindergarten. I skipped fourth grade. I was 16 when I graduated from high school.
My sister was the same age when she started kindergarten. She skipped second grade and was also 16 when she graduated from high school. |
| 17. I had a July birthday and was one of the youngest in the class but was always ahead academically; socially, not so much. I had enough credits to graduate at 16 but was depressed and decided to stay in HS another year. I doubt redshirting would have made me any more successful, but who knows? |

June birthday. Graduated at 17 and turned 18 a few days later.
Pretty typical. |
| I was 17. Honestly, I think I would have benefited from another year. I was very immature when I graduated from high school. |
| I was young, 15. I wanted to go to VMI so they let me "return" for another year and I was the assistant to the physics teacher. This was back in the early 80's |
| 16 skipped a grade finished college at 19 |
