Oh they are planning on taking the Iranian oilfields and invading the Iranian side of the straights. There will be boots on the ground within a week. The mission will not be liberation but taking the oilfields.

And you think this will be a successful endeavor?

So we kill him -- but we also kill all the guys who would have been slightly preferable to him -- and in so doing, leave only his son, who is much younger and therefore will live a lot longer and will be harder to replace, and who was at least as anti-American as his dad BEFORE we killed his dad, his mom and his wife. So frying pan into fire, it appears.

I can't figure out any justification for this, except that these people are all just morons. I'm not sure Netanyahu is a moron, though, so I'm wondering if he thinks "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" and so the more enmity he can create between Iran and the U.S., the closer the U.S. will cleave to Israel? It's very Game of Thrones, but there are a million examples in history where that did not turn out really well for anyone.

Netanyahu is betting on the wrong horse then because Trump is loyal to nobody. He’s always thrown Bibi under the bus about Iran in the past as recently as last year and during his first term as well.

There’s something about the Epstein file that shook Trump because it’s not like Netanyahu wasnt begging for this war during Trump’s first term and all of last year. The DOJ releasing the files really changed Trumps stance on “no new wars”.

Nope. He betted on the right horse. He was able to get Trump to do what no sane and intelligent president would do. Netanyahu asked Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, Obama, and Biden to go into Iran and they all refused. He finally got his stooge in Trump. And yes, there is something definitely in the Epstein files, but hey the Epstein files are barely talked about now that we are bombing the ME.

With what troops? The US doesn't have the hundred thousand or more troops it would take to do this in the ME right now. The best it could do is a few thousand from some rapid response units. They could probably take an airport. They cannot take entire oilfields or a coastline. And even if they did take the coastline, drones can easily be fired from further away. You don't need to be sitting on the beach to hit a ship.

Hear that shipping companies?! Keep those tankers moving!

Trump may actually be panicking. He’s definitely flailing. Angry that Iran picked a leader who is even worse than the one he assassinated. Furious that tankers won’t sail through the straits. Disgruntled that he had to miss golf for the dignified transfer.

This has been a disaster.

Like the current headline on finance.yahoo.com: "Trump Exploring Options to Curb Rising Energy Prices"

Duh. End the stupid war.

This is getting to be terrifying. I'm genuinely worried, more than I have been in YEARS.

But it saddens me to see all these republican congressmen make excuses and deflect. This, just like dozens of other things, should have been their breaking point. Republicans used to at least pretend to care about post-womb humans. Watching them go back and forth between, “Whoops! Well, people die!” and “Wasn’t us!” is just absolutely nauseating. I don’t know how 40% of this country is so cruel and heartless. Their hate is fueled by racism, misogyny, and greed.

You believe the outdated maps? Israel and America don’t bomb anything without their camera drones surveying a place first. They knew that was a school. They didn’t care

It would be nice if Iran valued their girls as much alive as they seem to do when they are dead.

Exactly. They treat women and girls like dogs (or worse) but use tragedies like this to pretend they’re horribly outraged and grieving. And the usual suspects always fall for it. There was an AI photo circulating that purported to show Iranians grieving over the girls’ coffins. Spare me.

So in your mind this justifies the deaths of 127 girls?

No where was that stated. What I’m saying is that it is disingenuous to treat your girls and women like breeding stock and then use their deaths as symbols of your oppression.

You’re so programmed it’s sad. They were elementary school girls. What breeding stock are you talking about? Don’t forget people like you make the argument they don’t go to school at all remember? Get out of your racist programming and grow some empathy.

np -- You are being obtuse about what PP is saying. She didn't say she had no empathy for the girls; she is accusing Iran of having no empathy except when it's good PR. She is saying those girls were doomed before they were bombed (editorial aside: at least they were in school).

PP's comments are not sides in the war (maybe PP has a side, but these comments don't reveal that). They are parenthetical to the war. She's simply saying that Iran's treatment of women sucks (editorial aside: as do, obviously, Trump's, Kegsbreath's, and Netanyahu's).

The real issue here should be our own responsibility. As Americans, we should be outraged. Whether or not people in Iran feel outrage about schoolchildren being killed is beside the point. What matters is that we demand accountability from our own elected leaders. One hundred sixty-five little girls were killed in an operation carried out in our name. That is outrageous and should be treated as a war crime. In a functioning democracy, such an act would trigger serious consequences. A president who authorized it should face impeachment and removal from office.

Instead, the discussion is being diverted. When PP accuses Iranians of expressing “fake” grief, it shifts attention away from the central issue: our responsibility for what was done and the need for accountability.

How the Iranians disingenuously weaponized this matters, however you’re right it is tragic and upsetting. War crimes are things people say to make them feel like there is a way to make the most base thing humans do feel controlled and fair. War is war and there’s really no way to adjudicate it. Winners win and losers lose.

Yeah this is a total shit show and the fact that Americans are more concerned about gas prices than the dead service people is pretty much par for the course. In the end. People care about their tribe and how it impacts them. What are you gonna do? Have a fit on social media all day or go make your part of the world a bit nicer?

At least they were in school invalidated everything you were saying. Again, you are propagandized. Iran’s fertility rate is 1.44 kids per woman, less than the United States and less than Israel’s. 70% of college STEM graduates are women in Iran. 40% of the nuclear scientists in Iran are women. More than Israel, more than the Us
