I guess I was thinking that she may have issues with the ultra progressives since she has a Trump supporter son, idolizes her dad (patriarchal?), things like that. Maybe there will be an audience for her though.

I don't hold anyone responsible for the political views of their children, parents, aunts, uncles etc. It's natural that any extended family will have people who hold different beliefs and political leanings.

And I also don't mind if someone's political views shift.

My only 2 cents about politics and Jen is that it's not something I care to hear her pontificate about.

IMO her strength is writing about life experiences and distilling the moments into things her followers can identify with in a self-deprecating and sometimes humorous way. I suspect that this thread developed a life of its own due to a sense that she's abandoned what drew many to her in the first place. It's possible that the stress of her divorce precipitated this and understandably sent her adrift. While I can't relate to her new schilling persona at all, I don't understand holding her accountable for things outside of her control (eg, family members' politics).

Nor do I. However, I have seen parents blamed- by progressives as often as conservatives- for what are seen as the bad ideas of their kids.

this thread totally died recently.... what gives?

Whenever she posts a picture of Tyler Brandon immediately posts one with his gf. Seems too immediate to be coincidence.

They're kind of super boring now.

Jen just shills 24/7 and Brandon loves his fiancé and food and romantic little trips with said fiancé usually involving photos of plates of food at restaurants.

Now Jen is super cool and bringing a DJ on tour!!
Who are all the people that team up with her? I mean, all the people she interviews, travels with, etc? Is it a sub culture of former evangelicals?

I think after Brandon answered many burning questions on his podcast the mystery is gone. They are staying true to their new lives.

She told her minions to drop their favorite pump up song in the comments.

Crickets. Not one comment so far.

And this thread does occasionally flatline. But Jen always finds a way to do something that brings it roaring back. I’m sure her cookbook tour will provide plenty of fuel.

I think the book tour will help her relationship with Tyler persevere...he will probably join her in some of the more fun cities and they will eat at all! the! BEST! places! in every town. But then once book tour is over, what will she have? The podcast and maybe speaking events?

I do love her pizza dough and sauce recipes. If her cookbook has that caliber of content. she will do well. And her buddies will certainly help move it off shelves..Pioneer Woman, et al will lend glowing endorsements.

It appears to be. Folks who constantly complain about the church, and try to look cool to the rest of the world. Do any of the mommy bloggers even go to church anymore? Jamie W wrote that she will probably never darken the doorway of a church again. Sarah Bessey has said she doesn't really have a church right now. Jen has been seen at ANC this year (front row with Dave Hollis!) Kristen Howerton lamented wanted to be part of that kind of community and rhythm again, but coming up short.
Has anyone checked out the Deconstructing Me Course? Goodness, I still can't believe she spun that into a class.

i am in shock that people have been discussing this woman for 243 pages, and the majority of the US doesn't even know she exists.

I think of it as morbid curiosity. Honestly you would have to live in a bubble to take her "influence" seriously. It is sad, but so curious. And so predictable. Deconstructing faith after much thought and deep study is one thing, although often sad. But I think Jen may have looked up a verse here and there, got sick of where she was culturally, became unexpectedly single, and just wanted a new narrative. The never going to church thing while not uncommon is weird for someone who not too long ago saw herself as a church leader. And acting like an authority on divorce recovery is far too premature.

I think it’s pretty clear that the Church was just another vehicle for self-promotion with these types. They were born into it so it was convenient for them, especially when they were younger. They are all calculating social climbers. When you realize this their behavior makes a lot more sense. It's ironic how similar they are to prosperity preachers.

When other vehicles of self-promotion became more attractive, like secular success, they all were very eager to jettison an old love for a new one.

The fact that they aren’t going to church anymore is not at all surprising.

I am expecting them to eventually embrace new age spirituality. Astrology, card reading, woo woo stuff.

That’s where all the cool kids are going, it seams. When can we expect a MeCourse on Your Sign And You!.
