Kavanaugh vote postponed. Judiciary Committee hearing on Sexual Assault complain Monday.

There not a tub big enough to hold America’s popcorn on Thursday.

According to her DH, relations were tense because CF's family is conservative.

Lol Maybe they'll ask him that on Thursday.

I’ll give you one idea - My DH maintains a calendar and has for years. On paper. He puts appointments on it. And, each morning he updates it to include things that he did the day before (example.... had tires rotated or called the bank for a reason). It has actually come in handy when we have had to remember something weeks or months later.

Most of us are highly critical of the version of events Dr. Ford is putting forward because they lack details, the others she said were present are disputing her account, some of the details she has claimed are contradictory to other statements she presumably has made, and it happened 36 years ago.

Do you really suppose that surprises me?

To a woman, every Republican woman on this thread who is also a victim of sexual violence has had nothing but criticism for Kavanaugh’s alleged victim. When she was anonymous, she was a coward. When she came forward, it wasn’t fast enough. She shouldn’t have come forward if she didn’t report it back that. She shouldn’t have come forward at all because it doesn’t rise to the level of serious enough in your minds. You rely on biased, right wing media that feeds you the most anti-woman, anti-victim predictable smears.

Do you know why I suspect you all do this, beyond a partisan zeal that that small segment of remaining Republican women share? I think you do it because you have internalized all the nasty, misogynist messages you’ve been fed. On some level you think it’s her fault that this happened and you think it’s your fault that you were assaulted. It is not your fault that he assaulted you. It’s not. You didn’t do anything wrong. You could report or not, as feels comfortable to you. You can talk about it now or not. But I do pray that you find peace and benefit of the doubt for a fellow victim. Peace be with you.

You can't possibly back this up. A couple of these women are saying that flimsy allegations like Ford's undermines women assault victims who do have substantial allegations.

Kavanaugh accuser Ford fled Washington life -- now she's coming back
https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/christine-bla...8-8792-78719177250f_story.html

Ford went as far away from here as possible.
She told no one for 30 years; the only thing worse than what happened would be others knowing -- the nightmare scenario of which is currently underway.
She became an expert in post-traumatic resilience; Thursday she will face the ultimate test.

Meanwhile Kavanaugh stayed, following the stellar path laid out for him, achieving great success in all facets of life, now sitting atop the Washington society they both grew up in -- many of us know it well.
That society, by and large, is with him. To attack him is to attack them, and the lives they lead.

Amazing Washington story.
Sad for all involved.

I'm sorry. The idea of this alleged incident so damaging a person for over 30 years is insulting to those who have been actual victims of rape. Even if her allegations are true - I just can't get that worked up about it. Flame away.

You just go on suspecting that. Nothing I will say will change your mind. Not the fact that all those who were allegedly at this party have written statements, applicable to penalties of perjury, that they have no knowledge of such a party. Not the fact that she claims 4 males were at the party, when now it is 3 males and 1 female. Not the fact that her therapist’s notes contradict her story. Not the fact that she cannot remember pretty significant details like what year this alleged assault happened, what house it happened in, or how she arrived at this party and got home. These are just some of the FACTS on which most of us are basing our thinking. It has nothing to do with what you think we have been “fed.” It has nothing to do with anything that may or may not have happened to us. You just don’t understand that the few facts that we know indicate there is a reason to be skeptical of her version of events.

+1

The assumption that women who doubt Ford's story are just docile Republican ewes is insulting. Some of us aren't Republican. We are just women who can think critically and don't accept being spoonfed views from the defeat Kavanaugh at all costs people.

1. She [...] her.

Does anyone else get the idea that Mrs. Kavanaugh and her friends are some busy bees on these threads?

Because we bring evidence to contradict assertions people are making here?

Has it occurred to you that some people here want to safeguard the seriousness with which women's assault allegations are taken and feel that is undermined by high profile allegations as flimsy as Ford's?

Agree. I am appalled by these liberals who say we should believe her, regardless of any evidence, because women should be believed....because....well....

I bet these same women would sing a different tune if their husbands were accused.

And I bet YOU would sing a different tune if you or your daughter had been assaulted and no one believed you.

I was thinking the same thing until I realized that the accuser’s siblings and parents have not said one thing publicly to defend her. Correct me if I’m wrong.

They are not flimsy. He said she said always turns to character, who is credible, who can best withstand the ugly glare and fire power of the interregation. And if she is believed, do people even care.

Remember, that this is her husband’s perspective. As is evident from this entire thread, there are two sides to every story....

"She didn't always get along with her parents because of differing political views," Russell said. "It was a very male-dominated environment. Everyone was interested in what's going on with the men, and the women are sidelined, and she didn't get the attention or respect she felt she deserved. That's why she was in California, to get away from the D.C. scene.”

Also, perhaps some GOP women pp's here are resigned to denying, ignoring or condoning their own DH's bad behavior because they like the lifestyle benefits

I trust that the Senators will give these calendars the appropriate evidentiary weight (which is to say, barely any)

What’s a Senator supposed to ask: “Now, uh, uh, Judge, if you were going to, uh, say, uh, allegedly sexually assault a uh, a uh, woman at a uh, uh, uh, er, party, would, uh, you want to put that on your calendar to make sure you, uh, didn’t forget about it?” [Southern accent optional].

That is just a tad bit insulting.
Why don’t you do it in the voice of Spartacus next?

Yes, that is her husband's perspective. That is why I started with "According to her DH..."

It is the only side we have as to a possible reason why her family hasn't backed her.

But I bet he doesn't include things like " got totally drunk last night" or "pinned down my secretary on her desk."
