SMS doesn't have a single coach listed that is above a D license. Hearing someone sayi they could handle a DA is why anyone getting advice from this board should stop immediately.

Maryland’s kind of a soccer wasteland, don’t know what to tell ya.

Then where should a serious player go?

Summer soccer camps should be about touches and having fun playing with different kids. Do not attend ANY camp thinking kids will come out on the other side substantially better.

Probably not. That’s why I put quotation marks around it. Kind of like Annandale with “Villarreal” or Stafford with “DC United”

It's a fair point, although Galanis has a "champions camp" in NJ in August I heard a lot fo good things about. And apparently you have to send a clip of your child doing some soccer for him to assess and decide to accept the child or not.

But my kid is begging for something to improve their skill over the summer. Any suggestions?

FCB camps run by ISL (which is a partner in the Leesburg escola) can be good. Some locations are better than others. A lot is driven by the caliber of players who enroll. This is really good for younger players and probably less valuable as players age.

Excellent info! Do you know which locations they run? Or is there a way to find out? Some kids are just soccer junkies, you know?

16, but college camps we tried have sucked, sadly. It's fine if you are trying to showcase, but they aren't training environments.

Our 2 U17 teams are doing a weeklong training camp over the summer. I’m sure our manager wouldn’t mind if your player trained with us.

McLean has boys ECNL starting in the fall.

Really? All age groups?

Has McLean announced its coaching line up?

With McLean and BRYC relatively close, is it creating some overlap? in theory, a boy could geographically be equally close to both ECNLs.

That's funny.

That is funny! SMS or A3???? To have a DA, first you have to actually have coaches, not a bunch of dads and second, you have to actually have good teams. Which club as either?

SMS and A3 doe have strong clubs but I don't beieve they are competitive enough across age grouos, i.e. state championships, tournament championships or 1st place league finishes in competitive leagues. Baltimore Celtic, Baltimore Union, MUFC, Bethesda, OBGC and Frederick are contenders with Bethesda and MUFC being the strongest. A3, MSC, SMS and Calvert are good but lack consistent performance across age groups. FC Bordeaux is another club focused on girls that could be a wildcard. There top team at FC Bordeaux just won the State Championship and is nationally ranked. The U15 team is improving and the U13 is in development. The club will expand to 6+ teams for the upcoming season and the affiliation with FC Bordeaux in France might be appealing.

MD needs another DA and more ECNL options. If you live in NW DC or MoCo, it is easier to get to Arlington and Reston than to the WS MD practices. It should not be so hard.

Where does WS-MD practice? Any solid clubs practicing in MoCo?

Yes, check their website.

McLean is going to be a solid boys ECNL program. I'm looking forward to seeing their coaching line up.

BRYC is quite the club too. I wonder if any more Va clubs will get ECNLs.
