are you actually defending this?

Defending "this" what? Define "this."

Exactly. It's the "this" that can't be defined as illegal activity. The "this" is why she's opting for a jury trial.

Felicity Huffman was just so embarrassed and wanted to deal with it and move on. She's also a really talented, trained, Oscar-nominated actor with a full career and I think she wants that back. The only way to get that back is to say, "I was wrong. I accept the consequences."

Lori and Mossimo are some ego maniacal tools. She will be convicted of something that will probably be overturned on appeal. But by that time, she will have been in the press for the wrong reasons and people will just want her to go away. No one will want to see her on Hallmark or Lifetime or Netflix. She may ultimately avoid jail time but the social damage will be permanent.

Their defense lawyers are trying to obstruct the charges!

What does that mean, obstruct the charges?

I’m astounded at how she and her husband continue to carry on. Do they really think that he is a shrewd enough businessman to build a fashion business of that size but foolish enough to just give a half a million dollar « donation » without really knowing what it was for. Say what you will about Felicity but at least she owned up and is taking her medicine which is the only honorable thing to do when you have done something dishonorable. I hope they both go to jail for a long time.

Doesn't the girls posing for fake crew shots kind of undermine the argument also?

I don't. I hope that for the next 30 years or something they have to fully pay for two disadvantaged children to attend USC (including books, room & board, meal plan, dorm decor, etc.) in the same style they sent their daughters. Each year. Jail would be too easy.

Two? How about 20? These people have the money to pay for many more than two.

And they wouldn't' feel a thing. It would need to hurt more. Make them pay till they can only afford beans and rice for dinner.

I think jail is ridiculous. Hit them where it hurts....money. Make them provide scholarships.

Do you think they will be found not guilty or take a plea offer with community service? If Felicity Huffman gets time I can’t see how these two don’t

Jail will hurt far worse.

FH will get house arrest for 90 days or something along those lines. I think Lori and Mossimo will get maybe 16 months and big fines.

O and FH will never talk about it again and Lori will have book deals, press tours, and a reality show lined up ASAP if she already doesn't.

I don't understand this elaborate ruse for fake spots on athletic teams and all that. You can 100% donate your way into an admission. Worked in development for a long time. Donors and legacy admissions make up a LOT of admissions that were on the edge or would have been a straight denial. It dwarfs numbers that are kids who are on the edge and maybe overcame serious financial/academic/ social circumstances.
