Kind of makes sense as Arlington has the luxury of attracting a whole county and some. Its probably also why Arlington rosters six teams instead of the four most other clubs do.

MYS is a smaller club that fields 3-4 teams at U-9. Arlington fields 6 teams so can take more kids. Of course the tryouts are smaller at MYS. That is the nature of a smaller club. These two--while close in proximity-- are VERY different clubs so if you haven't done your research you should.

Different how?

One is much more 'intense'

I don't know about that. I have some experience with both. They are both very big clubs, Arlington is just that even bigger. They both have teams in the same or comparable leagues--except for Arlington's fifth and sixth teams which play in ODSL, I think. So it is mostly different at the bottom. Within their leagues, Arlington does seem to be more successful, but I doubt that is because of the intensity.

McLean tryouts seem to have gotten smaller the last few years. There are probably some naturally ups and downs and they have also lost some kids to Bethesda South and other close by teams.

We have experience with both too (and currently don't belong to either). With both boys and girls. General impression: Arlington was far better run and coaching better. Lots of turnover every year in McLean. Teams not nearly as competitive. Rosters were huge compared to Arlington. Much easier to make a team in McLean as tryouts not as competitive. Good luck.

Agree, frustrating - couldn't find it on the website.

I believe this is the link where they will post results: https://www.youthleaguesusa.com/arlingtonsoccer/18-19/AcceptanceInfo.html

I have never seen anything associated with McLean not be 'intense'.

I think the reference is to parents, not specific to soccer, and applicable to both McLean and Arlington. ?

We've been at both clubs...McLean has a smaller club/community feel...many different coaches know your kid and you know a big chunk of the families in your age bracket. With 6 teams across multiple age levels its harder to replicate that in Arlington. Arlington has a larger player pool and therefore tends to have stronger teams. They also have DA if that is what you are looking for. Again,. it depends what you is most important to you...

Does anyone have any insight on the 07 Arlington boys DA team? Age mix of 07 and 08 and clubs kids came from?

why was it ever posted. Only those who participated in tryouts should be notified of the results. Why should the results be posted to strangers where your child's first initial and last name is revealed. No other club posts this publicly, I believe.

There is a privacy concern. I do like the transparency.

Agreed. Stoddert posts jersey numbers only.

Avoids the game playing that you see at other clubs with staggered offers, revised offers, etc.

Transparency. Was a good approach.
