Spring Travel Soccer Tryouts 2018

Any thoughts or opinions on the 2010 McLean U9 boys tryouts thus far? I here it was a much smaller group compared to Arlington's U9 tryouts. Kind of makes sense as Arlington has the luxury of attracting a whole county and some. Its probably also why Arlington rosters six teams instead of the four most other clubs do.

One has to believe that they are a better player than 85th. Please.

Only if you either have had training or innate talent or athleticism to begin with.

If you have neither of those 3, then you can at least get the training in ADP and the rest develops over time

MYS is a smaller club that fields 3-4 teams at U-9. Arlington fields 6 teams so can take more kids. Of course the tryouts are smaller at MYS. That is the nature of a smaller club. These two--while close in proximity-- are VERY different clubs so if you haven't done your research you should.

Different like Amherst vs Williams or Smith vs Wellesley.

I don't know about that. I have some experience with both. They are both very big clubs, Arlington is just that even bigger. They both have teams in the same or comparable leagues--except for Arlington's fifth and sixth teams which play in ODSL, I think. So it is mostly different at the bottom. Within their leagues, Arlington does seem to be more successful, but I doubt that is because of the intensity.

McLean tryouts seem to have gotten smaller the last few years. There are probably some naturally ups and downs and they have also lost some kids to Bethesda South and other close by teams.

Anyone else worried about try-outs this week with all the projected rain and thunderstorms? It could mess up our ability to try out a a couple clubs.

Oh yes but more worried about tryout in general.

I have fingers crossed for some practice cancellations. It always feels like a holiday. One of my kids practices on grass 2 of the 3 days.

Fortunately, we have no tryouts for the first time in 4 years. Our kids were told they do not need to tryout. Coaches already know them.

I can't tell you how glorious it feels not to go through that bullsh*t tryout process.
