No one is saying he deserved to die for his opinions. But he did just happen to die while scapegoating a marginalized population in an attempt to explain away our nation’s very real problem with gun violence. According to Charlie, deaths like his are just the price we have to pay for a Second Amendment. Or maybe he was just referring to the death of other people’s 6-year old kids as the price we need to pay?

Plenty of people have said he deserved to die for his opinions. Far more than I believed to be true. It’s gross and I am glad they are being tracked and reported to their employers and schools.

"It's gross" say the same people who had absolutely no problem with Trump's MAGA hordes chanting "hang Mike Pence" and bringing a gallows to the US Capitol. The same people who celebrated with that vile J6 horde that chanted it was set free from prison after violently attacking the US Capitol, smashing doors and windows, smearing shit on the walls, vandalizing and looting offices and conference rooms, taking confidential documents, and injuring over 100 police officers, several of whom died in the days following.

Anyone who voted for Trump and who still supports him doesn't have a leg to stand on with that argument.

What do confidential documents have to do with murdering someone in front of their children and wife?

And I’d be totally fine with people being fired for gloating and cheering the death of Capitol Police officers as well. I fail to see your point.

Who are these plenty of people?

And you were horrified when Trump and Kirk made jokes after Paul Pelosi was attacked. That people laughed when George Floyd was killed or said he deserved it. You are outraged that Trump only talks about the political violence against RW politicians and ignores the democrats attacked or killed. That Trump and Vance and GOP leaders call for vengeance and violence against all Democrats.

Right? Right?

Also depends on the question. Perhaps the question was, do you think political violence is justified? All the left said, no. The right have many different rationalizations for why it's okay. We see it happening right now. Political violence is woven into the MAGA way.

Some of the people in the Capitol were eager to murder a number of someones and their families.

I don't know if y'all are embarrassed that no one heard of or cares about Kirk but being indifferent doesn't mean people like an assassination. We are free to not care about someone famous for debating Gen X.

Please tell me you mean Gen Z. As if Gen X would ever.

Maybe not. The “right” runs the gamut from GWB fiscal conservative Wall Street types to Groypers (a term I didn’t know until last week and wish I still didn’t). They really are all over the place. I do think liberals share core values in the way conservatives did pre-Trump. I would be interested in seeing the matrix on the right in 2010 vs today. I bet it’s very different.

I find it odd that it’s acceptable for Kirk to say horrible things but not others.

Yes, this kind of citizen spying and reporting was quite useful to the Reich.
