Not sure I agree with the baby reindeer director that we need more dark and twisted stories to get us through these dark and twisted times … but there is probably some truth to it

It's sad because I LOVED the Wicked musical when I was a young teen. My grandparents surprised me and took me to see it on Broadway, and I listened to the songs for months!

I enjoyed the movie but am kind of sick of it now.

I'm guessing he knew Jeff Baena and is pretty shaken up by his death -- he may have written his speech down because it was the only way for him to get through it if he won. Do we know how they would have known each other? I was wondering if the friend he thanked also died by suicide and so he felt particularly sympathetic .

PP here and I just assumed that they are both indie directors and know each other from being in the industry together. I don't think he would have just called him by his first name if he didn't know him personally.

There used to be a company that immediately made knockoffs of some of the more wearable Emmy and Oscar dresses and sold them for a few hundred. I think they got sued out of business. I had the dresss Calista Flockhart wore when she wore the GG in 1999 and I loved it. I think it’s still hanging in my closet and I keep hoping my daughter will wear it to something. It’s vintage now!

PP here and loved the book and think the stage musical was wonderful. I think the movie is a gross money grab (I loathe when they split a story into multiple movies like this -- just tell a damn story in one movie) and while I think Erivo and Grande are terrific vocal talents, I don't like their interpretation of these roles and have found their press tour excruciating. Erivo in particular has really turned me off forever. Like zero self-awareness. Even by Hollywood standards. They need to stop. I'm glad this is kind of their swan song because the Oscars don't have a Musical or box office category so they won't be featured as heavily for the rest of awards season (though they will be at everything, ugh).

We had an Irish priest and I used to joke they should schedule all the parish meetings for 3:30 just so we could hear him announce it.
