PROMISES MADE = PROMISES KEPT |
Yes, I have enough money to weather the recession that will cause poor people to become even poorer and most of MAGA other than the Uber rich to suffer. I am banking on him just keeping one of his many promises for this outcome to occur. |
I am a Democrat (a moderate one), voted for Harris, and I guess fall into this category? I’m tired of watching the news and getting worked up about what he’s doing, and with Republicans in charge of the federal government there’s nothing to do so I’m just checking out.
On a personal level, I am fine. I’m a lawyer (in a regulatory practice, so my clients will benefit from this administration’s policies) and make enough money that if prices go up because of tariffs it won’t change much for me, will benefit from tax cuts, have the political insulation of living in a blue city in blue state, can leave the country if I need an abortion, etc. America voted for this and I am fine with people experiencing exactly what they voted for. So in that sense I hope Trump accomplishes what he said he would do. |
This is what I’m thinking happens. I’m still going to keep working and volunteering in electoral politics but know the America experiment could well be over. |
I’m on team #fafo.
Let them have their cake. I have money to weather this downfall of democracy. For everyone who voted for this, I hope you feel the pain of what you wanted. I’m putting my family first and making decisions to protect them, our own wealth and future. America chose this. |
Yes throw these MC clowns a few hundred in tax cuts so the oligarchs get away with trillions |
It's shocking how many of you really think money will protect you from the "downfall of democracy". |
When they’re not setting fire to people on the subway or raping and killing young girls out for a run. |
I voted for Trump. I hope we get everything plus what you guys think is gonna happen. Best president of our lifetime. |
Money can't buy everything but it can help solve a lot of problems. Money can buy food, shelter, access to healthcare, access to education. If you have money, you don't need to live in a trailer park vulnerable to floods and fires and other disasters. If you have money, you can take your infant away from a measles outbreak and protect them. If you have money you can buy the really expensive eggs or buy some chickens. And on and on and on. |
exactly. We are heading towards being like Iran or Hungary. The upper classes live okay lives there. It is boring, but not uncomfortable. I always thought the most brilliant book title was "I know why the caged bird sings". Now we can all experience that feeling. |
True, but there are many concerns beyond this. There is a rise in racism and white nationalism. When the J6 criminals attacked the Capitol, they did not discriminate rich from poor, white from black etc. They attacked policemen of all colors. I bet you some of the policemen they attacked voted for Trump. They would have harmed Pence who is rich, white and male. When things fall apart, everyone will go down. |
My child born in 2009 will be able to vote in 2028. Let's hope there's someone decent to vote for. |
What do you think people without a lot of money think about when they hear you guys crow about how you have enough money to be fine? I promise that it doesn’t make anyone see your side or want to align with you. What happened to Democratic support for the working class? That is the key lesson of this election and it seems like some of you are missing the point. |
Maybe but if you can pay off the thugs to go beat the crop out of your poor neighbor instead of, they'll probably take the money. Money can buy a lot of things. |
