I think one of the reasons that the left is so out of touch is that they use a framework of the right that existed 10 years ago. Their insistence that Fox News is the main source of information is a great example of this. Republicans left cable News behind a long time ago. What are your expectations with regard to illegals? Here on DCUM we heard Trump supporters insist, illegal is illegal, anyone who crossed the border illegally is a criminal, and that all of them have to go. All of them. We also heard Trump supporters insist that Haitians approved for asylum under previous administrations have to go, and particularly so because they are stealing cats and dogs and eating them. And that means revoking their status of being in the US LEGALLY under asylum provisions. We also heard you not having any problems with Vance's statements about denaturalizing citizens, immigrants who have been granted US citizenship.

Do you expect ALL of them to be deported, to include approved asylees and naturalized citizens? Or just the illegal border crossers? Do you expect the number of illegals in the US to go to zero?

I'll be impressed if they can deport a million per year, so I'd say my expectations would be for them to deport at least 3M high risk (known violent illegals) for the 4 years he is in office. I'm hoping for more, naturally. We will need several Republican administrations back to back to remove all of the violent gang members etc that came into the US during the Biden administration.

So the deportation numbers will be supplemented with voluntary departures.

I am a Democrat (a moderate one), voted for Harris, and I guess fall into this category? I’m tired of watching the news and getting worked up about what he’s doing, and with Republicans in charge of the federal government there’s nothing to do so I’m just checking out.

On a personal level, I am fine. I’m a lawyer (in a regulatory practice, so my clients will benefit from this administration’s policies) and make enough money that if prices go up because of tariffs it won’t change much for me, will benefit from tax cuts, have the political insulation of living in a blue city in blue state, can leave the country if I need an abortion, etc.

America voted for this and I am fine with people experiencing exactly what they voted for. So in that sense I hope Trump accomplishes what he said he would do.

True, but there are many concerns beyond this. There is a rise in racism and white nationalism. When the J6 criminals attacked the Capitol, they did not discriminate rich from poor, white from black etc. They attacked policemen of all colors. It's shocking how many of you really think money will protect you from the "downfall of democracy".

Money can't buy everything but it can help solve a lot of problems. Money can buy food, shelter, access to healthcare, access to education.

If you have money, you don't need to live in a trailer park vulnerable to floods and fires and other disasters.

If you have money, you can take your infant away from a measles outbreak and protect them.

If you have money you can buy the really expensive eggs or buy some chickens.

And on and on and on.

True, but there are many concerns beyond this. There is a rise in racism and white nationalism. When the J6 criminals attacked the Capitol, they did not discriminate rich from poor, white from black etc. They attacked policemen of all colors. I bet you some of the policemen they attacked voted for Trump. They would have harmed Pence who is rich, white and male. When things fall apart, everyone will go down.

Maybe but if you can pay off the thugs to go beat the crop out of your poor neighbor instead of, they'll probably take the money. Money can buy a lot of things.
