Found another thread with a great idea/ make them fuel.
JD Vance has some unhinged cult views. He has shared he is an admirer of Curtis Yarvis who has truly disturbing views about government and the future: https://newrepublic.com/a...rian-ideas |
Let’s hope so. I saw that movie about the stupid arms dealers. I can do it. |
I mean one, I think we should do away with birthright citizenship. That would solve this problem within a few years. |
so, you have two resident aliens who have a baby in the US, but that baby wouldn't get US citizenship? So, if Melania had a baby while she was on her HlB visa with another visa holder, her baby shouldn't be considered a US citizen? |
Don't you think if there was real political will to do it that it wouldn't have been tried by now? |
DP. Yes, neither of the parents are American, therefore the child is not an American. Depending on the laws of the parent's country, the child would be a citizen of one or both parents. This is pretty common throughout the world. |
No. Why should the baby be a full citizen? Neither of his parents would be and they would most likely go home. I know you used Melania as a gotcha because you figured I was a Trump voter (I'm not, Harris 2024 baby!) who just hates brown immigrants but is cool with white ones (not true) but if Melania hadn't married a citizen, she likely would've gone back to Europe. Why tf should her kid get citizenship because she happened to get knocked up while she was here? |
Yes. That was my opinion. I said I think we should do this. I did not say "I think there's a real political will to do this." My fellow Democrats will never do it because they are softies on immigration - as evidenced by people in this thread acting like they have no idea how you would even begin to deport people - and republicans won't do it because they have nothing to campaign on except immigration and abortion (the party of ideas, am I right?). In reality illegal immigration is a massive problem. |
Forgot to add. Interestingly enough my dislike of birthright citizenship didn't come about because of illegal immigration from South and Central America. It came about because the people who abuse it the most are Chinese and Indian parents who want their kids to be able to get into an American university more easily. And some Russian oligarchs. |
I think we should get rid of it too, but the impact will be fairly small compared to the scale of the current problem at hand. |
Not even Russian oligarchs. A normal upper middle class family can afford the 30k fee most of Miami birth clinics charge for you to come here around 7th month, have the baby and go back with papers. I see it all the time on forums. |

That’s ridiculous. Starving with a cellphone bill. Who’s paying the bill? Wouldn’t it be easier for Mexico to invade and take over these failed countries no one wants to live in? Turn them into provinces. The people get citizenship in a country with a stronger economy, Mexico gets additional land, and our businesses will open more factories there and get the cheaper labor. Win win win for all. |
She likely would've overstayed her visa, just as many other illegals do. Or lie on her citizenship application so she could become a citizen. birthright citizenship exists in Canada. |
You know Melania didn’t get her papers through marriage, right? |
