No. They need an entirely new coaching slate across the board for that to happen.

Please explain this one?

Is there any other coaches in VA that have made it as far as some of their coaches.

For 2011 Arlington and Charlotte will keep making it out of the group stage. Unclear if anyone else really can, Richmond had some luck this year but hey luck plays a role too.

For all ages though Big question is whether MA keeps its 5 CL slots or whether it’s reduced to 4.

Will only be 4 now.

NA and NE are getting a fourth CL slot with the South Shore and Ukies additions and word is that the MA or SE Conferences will each lose a slot.

Yes Mid Atlantic Conference is going down to 4 spots because of the Brave + Union merger. No longer top 5.

Arlington 2011s had an easy bracket IMO. I’m not saying they are not an amazing team but they only had to play Richmond in the round of 16 to go to the finals. They also played a team that is below 140th in the country for their regular bracket. They didn’t play a single California team to get to finals. Again, they are a great team and I hope they do well but they are untested when it comes to California teams. This is not a knock on their team — it’s just that DMV cannot keep with California teams that have zillions of coaches for each aspect of practice / play and fly girls in from around the country. That is what the DMV teams are up against.

So it will be all the more difficult to even qualify for CL for our area clubs

It's self-inflicted after poor playoff showings.

Agree. They seem to be a very strong team but got lucky with an easier path to Richmond. A lot of the California teams had to face each other in the round of 16. Not saying Arlington 11s don't have a talented bunch but it will be a true test if they end up playing Blues or Surf. Anyways, a championship run does require a lucky draw some of the time...good luck to them in Richmond!

Wasnt Arl 2011 the number 1 seed going into Seattle? The top seed will generally not face other top teams immediately.

Charlotte was super close to the E8. Some last minute goal.

Yes they were hence they got to play wild card #5 in the round of 16 that happened to be Richmond. People always talking about DMV can’t compete with Texas and CA but to have 3 teams advanced from MA to the round of 16 is an accomplishment. It didn’t seem like any Texas team advanced to the final for 2011. The mighty Solar didn’t advanced out of group play. It might be luck or it might be not. All the top 8 have earned their spots so let’s not knock anyone down that they haven’t been tested. Pp on this board we’re saying 2011 Arlington wouldn’t even make it out group play and here they are.

Richmond only lost 3-2 to #2 seed and won big against the other 2 teams. That’s impressive to even make it that far with the record they have.

Great run for Richmond.

I was there, ARL 11 is a very good team. Maybe they did have an easier group and got to play Richmond but that’s how things work. I also saw BETH 10 play that is another great team that moves the ball around very well. Good luck to both, from what I saw there is another step up or two to be at the level of some of the CA teams.
