ENCL Nationals - Girls

It's not just about the clubs. Clubs do not have time to develop 12 player equally at the same time cuz they are all different. Think of them as a teacher has to teach the entire classroom. They just don't have enough time to make sure everyone is up to speed. Sure clubs can do better but it will still come down to coaches, parents, and the players themselves. There's no magic solution. Every club and every coach wants to have good team that play well and win. Reality is they have to work with the player pool they have and some just have better players than the other.

I don’t think anyone would disagree with that. Technically strong players is just the price of admission. Club philosophy/approach is what gets you to the level this whole discussion is based on.

A few pages up, I posted, I don't want to hear this as an excuse. Weather doesn't stop kids from playing indoor when it's cold outside. Plenty can still be taught indoor even without a ball. If Iceland can find a way to develop when it's cold outside, I think we can too.

We ain’t Iceland. No we cannot find a way. And not just the dmv. Everywhere that is not Cali, Florida, or Texas. Way world works. Maybe no one really into soccer.

So looking at the ranking app (noted that it’s not accurate but a good guideline). But for
2010 Bethesda is #9, CSA #14 and Union #34.

For 2011, ASA #4, CSA #12, and Bethesda #20.

Looks to me at the very least Bethesda 2010 and Arlington 2011 are the outliner around here. We do have teams that can be competitive against TX, CA teams. Not that DMV is completely out of league against others big clubs out there.

also pda and some other northern clubs are having overall better showings. We collectively suck and cant hide behind weather.

those coaches struck the lottery synergy and skill wise +’smart coaching. The 2011s ASA had been playing up and around the country since they were little 9v9ers

We’re over analyzing this. DMV is ok. Occasionally the right combo comes together and we have a team do well. Just like most other regions of the country - NJ/Phil, Michigan, Colorado, Seattle, Atlanta, etc. It’s just that we aren’t one of the top two (TX,CA) which are just more consistently good and have separated themselves from all the rest of the pack. We are in the rest of the pack which is fine

Yup, weather is no excuse. Penn Fusion won 08 and Kansas City made it to final for 09.

Something about SoCal though. I remember Koge being ECNL club of the year last year (don't remember how many age groups they won) and this year Surf won 3 age groups. A friend of mine said look at the final 8 and how many Cali teams in general vs the rest of the country. Again, remove weather as any reason why.

U19 - Surf
U17 - Beach
U16 - Penn Fusion
U15 - Surf
U14 - Slammers HBK
U13 - Surf

SoCal is tough...

Something working in the Philly area. Delco Boys won the MLSNext U16 and now PF Girls take home the U16 ECNL National Championship.

I'm close with a P4 womens coach and they feel that Philly and NJ have the best talent pool outside of TX and CA. There are many girls from PA and NJ that play club and go to private schools in the other state given the proximity so the talent consolidates. Penn Fusion draws players from DE and MD. PDA and Match Fit draw girls from PA and NY. World Class is another top club in that region.

Atlanta is obviously a hot spot and there are some pockets in the midwest like Detroit and KC that are also strong with both talent and training.

What's your coach friend say about the recruiting out of DMV?
