Why watch a U17 game with mostly commits?

I don’t think you need to go that far. Any ECNL event will have scouts especially since most schools are on the east coast.

No, 44 make playoffs. In years U16 and U17 they add Showcase divisions which have nothing to do with Playoffs and are more for College Coach exposure. U15 has an additional “North American Cup” division which is a tournament style showcase.

GA follows a very similar model.

Congrats to those 2 teams advancing to the finals week. I have no affiliation to the Bethesda 2010 team but was told that team will get to play SD Surf in the quarterfinals. Good luck to them. 2 DMV teams getting to play the San Diego team in play offs.

I'm telling you how Surf wins all the time. It's not magic. It's a refined core program that they follow from when the players are u6 all the way to when they're u16. Nobody takes shortcuts players, coaches, or parents.

Just stop, Surf wins all the time because they're viewed as the best club in San Diego for 20+ years and pull players from smaller clubs. Yes they develop a handful of their own, but most players start/develop at uLittles in a smaller club and then go to Surf as they get older.

Surf 09 flies half the team in from Las Vegas and needed So Cal Blues to develop their best player.

I was responding to the previous two posters. IF they think that playing ECNL/GA isn't the way to go and instead they can just go to college ID camps and get recruited that way.....they are very wrong.... I'm not saying it's impossible to be discovered/recruiting that way, but the odds o fit happening are very slim (becuase those camps are primarily just money makers.....).

ECNL playoffs include the 44 teams in the championship bracket plus for the two recruiting years the 16 teams in the North American Cup plus the 16 teams in Showcase A plus the 16 teams in Showcase B. All of that together is called the playoffs. Only the 44 are playing for the championship.

3 teams in 2011 from MA made round of 16. That’s not weak.

OP said finals week, not round of 16.

For 2011 Arlington and Charlotte will keep making it out of the group stage. Unclear if anyone else really can, Richmond had some luck this year but hey luck plays a role too.

For all ages though Big question is whether MA keeps its 5 CL slots or whether it’s reduced to 4.
