2011 girls team is great however their coach and I am sure some players are leaving to syc. That coach was probably the best coach they had on staff. I think the younger coaches are great but imo they value their boy teams over the girls. So there are some stand out years for both boys and girls but girls are definitely not respected as the boys are.

This is the vibe I get from parents I know of both girls and boys that play there. The Gold u-10 boys and girls seem to like a good group and all like their coaches... but the boys definitely seem to get treated better and get more actual practice time instead of just scrimmaging

You're much less likely to get scouted at a high school team level vs a top travel team. Most of the clubs hold showcases for colleges side from coaches and directors helping with recruiting.

The vast majority of kids just want to play for their high school team.

The boys program sounds pretty bad too though.

That wasn't the question asked, though. They were asking about a scouting

This makes me sad but i am not surprised to hear this. There is no player development at valor so it really puts valor players at a huge disadvantage. Let this be a warning for all parents Get them out while they are young so they can still catch up to their peers.

Boys HS soccer at almost all schools in area is shit soccer. Its athletes playing kickball in most instances. If you are undersized or dont have elite speed you at a disadvantage.

Maybe its sht soccer but it still is hard as heck to make the high school teams, at least at the big publics
it really depends on school. Alot of schools carry massive rosters. So i would say its harder to get playing time vice make rosters. Its myth that the teams are loaded with ECNL talent in starting positions. You may have 1-2 ECNL quality players per roster. Just so many HS in area.

Show me where you got this, "fact." And I don't mean you saying, "I think this is the case. Therefore, it is true." You made a statement of, "fact." I'd like you to provide the receipts for it, please.

150 boys showing up for HS tryouts isn't a fact? Maybe some of you have been sucked into some kind of elite soccer BS and don't realize how out of touch you are.

It's crazy to me that so many people are focused on their kid playing in college. Why? You are paying a fortune in college tuition for your kid to get an education and take advantage of all the amenities of college life. Spending all their time playing a sport instead of enjoying college life and academic pursuits, for no purpose? Then they graduate and get a 9-5 like everyone else.

Some parents have a really hard time letting go of their identity as a sports parent. They’d rather their kid play a sport at a school no one has heard of, than play club or not at all at a bigger/better school. I was a D1 athlete and some of the parents were still super involved in a way that surprised me. My parents were too far away to be that invested, and were never those parents in the first place. I felt bad for some of my teammates because their parents seemed disappointed or even angry if their kids didn’t perform up to expectations. I wonder what their relationship with their parents is like now.

That's what is so surprising to me about kids playing travel for so many years not even making their HS team. Most kids would love to play for their high school. The point of doing travel for many is to get good enough to make the high school team. If you can't even play for your high school, what was the point of all that training.

Where do colleges recruit from these days? High school? Travel? ECNL?

The point is, few should care.

Because the kid wants all of the above, maybe?
