In most big cities violent crime is declining. In Washington the opposite is true

Anonymous
What saved it was the National Guard.

DC Council won’t change. We’ve been electing the openly antisemitic tinfoil hat lunatic onto the council for at least 5 years since we knew it to be the fact. That eejit is still making your laws and life miserable. That’s all you need to know.

They need to be put in a time out for at least 4 budget cycles and start over with new people.

Basically DC Council serves with impunity. So get rid of them.

Trump has said he’ll federalize the city if elected. Biden could lose the election. Showing the country that he can bring DC to order is helpful; letting DC Council make a mockery of us worldwide will certainly lead to Trump.

So, not much choice there. Control Board it is.

At the very least Biden would get to appoint the board if we act now. Then we get self governance back in 4 years. Otherwise DC is lost. Time to face the facts.

Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE), created to address violence in the District while assisting grieving and trauma-stricken families. Funded in 2024 at $31 million

Office of Gun Violence, which houses the Building Blocks program launched in 2021. Since then, that program has granted $2.6 million to individuals and community organizations via “mini-grants” of $5,000 and “mini-plus” grants of $15,000 to fight violence in targeted neighborhoods. In fiscal 2024, the program has awarded 12 mini-grants and 16 mini-plus grants totaling $300,000.
The $88 million Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services earmarks nearly $70 million for youth and family programs.

The Violence Interupters

The Culture Agents on ATVs and scooters…

It would be interested to know what the grants were used for and what the outcome was from it. I could easily see that money going to people and then being used on anything vs it's intended purpose.

No it wasn't. The National Guard was prevented from doing anything because it was under Trump's command. The independence of the MPD was the only thing that prevented the coup attempt from being successful.

Trayon sucks, no doubt. Steve King is not any better.

Don’t forget DC taxpayers paying for a family’s $6000 Florida vacation. That would have bought several patrol bikes for MPD cops.

I'd bet Nikki Haley would do this too, and I'd far rather have her in charge. I'll support moderates of ANY party for DC government, and "I pick Nikki" for president. I hope independents and even Democrats out there are supporting her campaign. Trump, and as we've seen recently, even Biden have campaigns with fair potential to crash.

Yes, I would too, as the Mayor just announced a fresh, new round in her recent newsletter.

No one supports GOP even if we think Allen is a tool. Didn’t Nikki lose a primary against Anon? Get over yourself

Oh come on, what do they need the patrol bikes for? They can’t chase the criminals, thanks to Allen and Nadeau

So why did we have them sleep in the garage fume and feed them pizza?

The DMV region being lax on crime benefits a few and has unimaginable costs for others

The talk at an important dinner last night was all about and clear on that Allen is over in Democratic Party. They have to let this term/recall play out, but he’s damaged goods and all the doors are closed to him. He’s finished. I think that’s even more important.l than whether he gets to finish out the term.
Anonymous
On the one hand, he’s a problem and an embarrassment for the party. On the other, he’s also really unlikable. I don’t even know how it’s possible to be this disliked.
