In most big cities violent crime is declining. In Washington the opposite is true

I cannot even imagine what the mother, who was holding the boy when he was shot, is going through.

Yep, gang bangers. Even has the tear tattoo. Charming.

These are the people flooding our borders.

These people are seeking asylum from their own government's draconian policies.

I feel like as a 6'4 white male, I would be an even better trophy for DC's youth to take down, who knows, maybe I'm wrong.

I'm 6'2" - had a group of teens get in my face when I confronted them on a bus over a shoving incident that knocked an old lady down, I refused to back down. Was just waiting for one of them to try and get physical because I would have put him in the hospital. Don't know what AG needs to hear this but people have a right to self-defense.

that's culturally insensitive

Has this been discussed? Proof is in the pudding, Graves says a lot of things but prosecution is among lowest in the country. He has a lot of idealogues among his career prosecutors. Time will tell.

Another sex assault on a metro train - orange line again. Suspect arrested. Be alert and warn your kids. Gel pepper spray is the best type to use on a train.

Some are seeking asylum on the grounds of having an abusive boyfriend. Jeesh. That can happen here.

How much do you want to bet that the perp jumped the turnstile and committed fare theft?

Another reason to de-decriminimalize "fare evasion."

Do you mean recriminalize fare evasion? Only DC decriminalized, over the objections of VA, MD and WMATA. Given how NoVA and MoCo are following DC's lead re: crime, esp juveniles, maybe their stance will change over time. Miss the 90s when WMATA was safer and more orderly, trains and buses.

The financial cliff is getting closer and closer and the Council has floored the accelerator. If they DON'T want another Control Board, what are they playing at?

Pro tip: not guaranteed that property values will continue to rise. When Fed leases expire, it is very likely they will shrink footprint or relocate. It is not a given that "downtown" will ever come back.

But how is that possible? The Council gave us:

Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE), created to address violence in the District while assisting grieving and trauma-stricken families. Funded in 2024 at $31 million

Office of Gun Violence, which houses the Building Blocks program launched in 2021. Since then, that program has granted $2.6 million to individuals and community organizations via “mini-grants” of $5,000 and “mini-plus” grants of $15,000 to fight violence in targeted neighborhoods. In fiscal 2024, the program has awarded 12 mini-grants and 16 mini-plus grants totaling $300,000.
The $88 million Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services earmarks nearly $70 million for youth and family programs.

The Violence Interupters

The Culture Agents on ATVs and scooters…

Charles Allen begs to differ, you must be wrong - fare evasion leads to LESS crime 😂

Bring the Control Board back:

The District of Columbia Financial Responsibility and Management Assistance Authority was formed in April 1995 in order to assist the District in eliminating budget deficits, managing problems more efficiently and effectively, and ensuring the long-term viability of the Nation's capital. By statute, the board will return decisionmaking power to the city's elected officials after a series of four consecutive balanced budgets.

At the very least, federalize the police now under a Dem President. Might help us keep the White House. The carnage under the White House windows doesn’t help the voters vote Dem

The Home Rule Act gives the President the authority to federalize the D.C. police department.

What? Hell no. The only thing that saved the Republic on January 6th was that the MPD was not under federal control.
