How can we make DC streets bicycle and pedestrian-only?

What will DC youth do if there are no cars to jack?

I realize that is not rational but it's the truth.

I HATE SCOOTERS AND E-BIKES! ENOUGH ALREADY!

I feel like I am likely to kill someone anytime I leave my house. Let's just add the skateboarders for good measure.

I think Paris banned scooters and I think the same should be done in DC.

Seems like a perfectly well-adjusted, rational individual. I guess this PP who loves driving is why our streets are so safe!

Please don't drive.

It makes the streets very chaotic, especially when cyclists ignore traffic rules. It's worse at night when you can't even see them. I feel bad for tourists driving here who aren't used to this craziness.

I am hardly alone!

Besides, it’s not our numbers that count. It is our lobbying power.

When OP and DDOT are using taxpayer funds to pay outside advocacy groups to lobby for their own agenda, yes, it enhances lobbying power.

I donate $20 to WABA for every post I see here about a Bike Lobby.

Everything about WABA is a scam. Most of its budget comes from the taxpayer, and WABA repays the favor by charging DCPS thousands of dollars to rent each bike used in its stupid classes on how to ride a bike. It would be great if this astroturf group could get its money from real, live people who believe it its cause and stop living off the public dole. DC has better things to spend its money on.

Seems pathetic. Underscores how few people in this city support bike lanes.

another $20 to WABA from the PP!

Please, give them all of your money. Taxpayers should not have to float these scam artists.

They don't, but then again, your kind has never let something as pesky as facts disrupt your carefully constructed alternate reality.

Hey dipshit. Here's their tax forms. You can see for yourself. Two thirds of their entire budget is handed to them by the DC government which receives nothing in return.

Nothing in return except...

- serving as trail captains to clean up area trails and help people who are on them
- providing training to kids and adults
- providing summer camps
- doing school visits to promote safer cycling

etc., etc.

Right, yep, seems like absolutely nothing! No hyperbole here from idiot carbrains!

WABA charges schools $1,000 per child to rent its bikes for its classes. Does that strike you as a reasonable rate? That garbage-y program is separate from all the free money WABA already gets from taxpayers.

Is this what you're alluding to when you assert that "WABA charges schools $1,000 per child to rent its bikes for its classes."

Base year:

Item description: "Provide and maintain necessary equipment, including fleet of bicycles"
Price per unit: "$1,000.00 per bicycle"
Number of units: "30"
Total price: "$30,000.00"

I didn't think anybody needed to explain that a child is not a bicycle, but apparently I was wrong.

Apparently every dcps school has a cohort of 30 children. I guess I see 500 ghosts every day at work

It seems like an inflated (some might say fraudulent) way to pad a contract and transfer even more taxpayer funds to this lobbying group.
