Yes, it does appear that the Trump White House was pressuring Twitter to target Trump’s political enemies, but that’s not the spin Musk told Taibbi to put on it, so Taibbi is trying (but failing) to bury it.

That is the primary invented story. Reality has not lived up to it. The Twitter Files are turning out to be a bigger bellyflop than the Durham investigation.

That’s not totally true. We now know, though with no specifics, that the Trump White House was pressuring people to change things. It just didn’t turn out to be what Elon promised it to be.

Before you said Twitter wasn't biased and was following their policies. It was FBI that told them to be on the lookout for hacked materials and disinformation.
Even though they had the laptop for a year and knew it wasn't hacked.

So was Twitter censoring it due to their own bias, or because of FBI advice?

Taibbi's tweets are a bit hard to follow but this part is reasonably clear:

No government involvement in the laptop story. I.E. the story was not blocked due to FBI advice.

The decision was made by Twitter employees.

In addition to the fact that even Taibbi specially says the FBI had no involvement here, as far I can tell, it is still very much an open question as to whether this laptop has hacked materials on it. The news analyses have concluded that some of the material is authentic, but that doesn't mean it wasn't retrieved in a hack and then put on the laptop. And those same analyses have shown that some of the material was definitely put on there after the fact.

Taibbi has quite a reputation. This will only add to it.

But surely we know everyone who had access to the laptop?

Some of the material on the laptop is authentic, but some is fake - and poor fakes at that. The laptop story always was a Trump campaign gimmick, it was intended to be an October surprise, was never meant to live on this long.

So now "#TwitterFiles2" is trending, with Bari Weiss breathlessly posting a thread about "OMG, WE DISCOVERED A SECRET BLACKLIST!!!!1!"

While the rest of us are "yawn, that's the shadowbans, the world has known about that for a long time already."

Yet more proof Twitter was taken over by clueless noobs.

The way this is being released is so ham handed—like a GenX person struggling with technology. Although, I think BWeiss is younger than that.

That said, based on the audience’s votes, Taibbi and Douglas Murray triumphed easily over Malcolm Gladwell and Michelle Goldberg at the Munk debate on “mainstream media.”

Bari Weiss isn’t exactly an intellectual heavyweight.

Twitter's Roth gave an affidavit to the FEC that the FBI had notified him that hacked material could be coming close to the election, and that they had mentioned Hunter was a possibility.
