Similar to my DDs two years ago (although verbal and quantitative switched - 137 quantative and 120 verbal). She also had a composite of 131 and got accepted to AAP.

OP here, I just got the scores today in the mail, I haven't received a pool letter. I think she is borderline, low in quantitative (expected more). I will ask her teacher to write a recommendation letter.

Don't bother: FCPS employees may not write letters.

Very similar to my DD's scores two years ago. She wasn't even in the pool b/c that was the year that a high sub-score wasn't good enough. You had to have a composite of 132. I didn't refer. She's in regular classroom + Adv. Math (ironic), essentially in her own group in reading, but doing well and does not want to go to the AAP center, so we are not referring. We have thought about it and stressed over it, but I think it's probably for the best that she is where she is.

Younger sib. just got CogAT scores and his are notably higher in quant. and non-verb, and composite. Now that I see his scores, and I know how quickly he picks up analogies and math concepts compared to DD, I am more content with DD (whose scores are like your child's) not being in AAP.

What's your child's personality like? Does he or she like a challenge or get stressed by new things? You're in the zone where it could work either way -- AAP or regular class. But, realistically, there are kids who score higher who won't get in, so don't fee bad if yours doesn't.

What's the max score that one can receive on the CogAT? I know for the NNAT, it's 160.

I feel that DD could go either way, I know she has the potential for AAP, she is great at math but her quant. score doesn't reflect that. She is bilangual and is currently learning a third one (father speaks four languages and I speak three). Too bad there isn't an advanced program for that (immersion program wouldn't work for our family.)
