Ten pounds to lose, no time, tired, blah

Anonymous
I am a used to be thin woman, who is five pounds up from each pregnancy and is now 10 pounds over my starting weight (now 134, before 124). I am still nursing my nine month old, and my older child is only 2, so I never sleep. I used to have will of steel but I am so dang tired I have none. I have to start losing weight, and the scale has not budged since about six months PP. I don't really have time to work out now, working full time and clean up on weekends. What do I do? How do I start? Are people liking WW lately??

I was like you, and I could not lose the weight. I did end up going on ww, and lost it all. Now that kids are older, I have more time to work out. I am in better shape now than before I had kids. Start with ww, and see how you do.

Love, love, love WW. I couldn't lose those last 10, either, and I did with WW, eating normal food. I'd tried every plan out there and now would never switch.

The caveat is, it took me nearly a year. WW is not a speed diet. That said, I believe the slow pace helped my body adjust to a new setpoint, which is much more important than losing it in a month and gaining it right back.

1. Download the myfitnesspal app and/or sign up on the website
2. Consume less calories than you burn every day
3. That's it!

Work on your kids sleep, then your own. That will make all the difference!

Get a DVD called the shred with Jillian michaels. I don't like her, but do it 5-6 days a week for 20 mins. I feel and look amazing after doing it twice now. I get up early to do it or do it after kids get to bed. The results motivate me to eat a little better too.

I stopped eating all processed sugar and wheat/grain/flour/rice/potato on December 29th. So, lots of veggies, fruit, protein, some cashews/nuts. I buy avocados in bulk (love them so they are my favorite snack). So far I'm down 9 pounds. Still have to find the time to work out.

I want to do this, but my weakness is bread. How are you handling that?

What happened when you weaned your first? Your body may hold onto some weight while you're still breastfeeding.

Me too! Down 10 pounds so far. Except I still do sugar in my coffee and eat the occasional bowl of cereal. But for the same amount of calories in a slice of bread or serving of pasta, you can straight up *gorge* on fruits and veggies and not be hungry. It helps if you like eating produce, of course...

Do people really go to ww to lose just 10 pounds?

OP I think all you need to do is make some slight changes on the margin - like cut out 150 cals/day and add in some more walks. Maybe try to just be kind to yourself and not worry too much about it until you have had a solid few weeks of better sleep in a few months!

I think this is what I need to do. What are you doing for breakfast and how are you handling cheese and dairy?

I do a few scrambled eggs for breakfast, usually. It keeps me from getting too hungry before lunch. Haven't cut out dairy or cheese, but am mindful of the portions. For "dessert" I do something like flavored yogurt or cereal, so you get the sweetness without all the calories. It's really not so bad! The main thing that works for me is, like I said above, being able to just eat a ton of fruits or vegetables, which keeps me from ever being hungry.

I am not the pp, but when I first cut the carbs I had a lot of cravings. They all went away within a week but the first three days were tough.

+ When the weather gets warmer and the days longer, you'll be able to walk outside and get some Vit D from the sun. We are just less active in winter.
Come to think of it, if you can go on long walks with a stroller on weekends, do so even at the expense of housework.
