Valor

Maybe Valor should be HONEST about which teams have parents coaching their own kids, then people wouldn't have to speculate.

What's the joke? Where is the funny in this statement. Wouldn't a family that grew up around soccer proably work in soccer? Over at Fairfax Union you have Gene Misalow and his son Tyler (who he coached for years) are the lead, Quan's (who runs vda, hp elite, and pwsi) father ran BRYC for years(who he and all of family played for). Ken Krieger and coached Ali for years. Northern Virginia is run by soccer families, it just shows that you don't have much knowledge on the subject

Be careful. You’re going to get attacked by these haters for questioning their critiques.

People here are just determined to criticize. If you question their logic within their criticism, you will be accused of being an employee or defending the club in some way. They are happy to bash an organization, but they cannot handle when someone simply challenges their point of view.

Looking at the coaching staff, MB does not have a girl on the 2011 team. She is a great coach and has a good reputation coaching Chantilly's varsity team. We need to stop spitting out rumors.

DV is her co-coach and has a daughter on the team.

+1. That team is parent-coached. You need to check your facts before claiming other people are "spitting out rumors".

I don't think they hide it, what are you looking for? Do you want a disclaimer on the website or something. Literally no club does that. Loudoun's u10 coach has a daughter on the team, no disclaimer on their website. Quan's cousin is his son's coach at VSA, no disclaimer on the website.

If the complaint that Valor is hiring unqualified then complain to Cory.

After lurking for a while, I am convinced that there are 4 or 5 "haters" that drive 90% of the traffic here and are not well versed in what the soccer scene in Northern Virginia looks like.

They do hide it because they don't disclose it. The "gold" coach for next year met with parents of the current "gold" team. He went on and on about his qualifications, without mentioning that he currently coaches his own daughter. He sent a parent a long email about the same, without mentioning he coaches his own kid.

It should be disclosed up front before people commit.

FR. Quan has his favorites too. If you pay that money at HP, you start on his teams and I dont see anyone complaining here. Oh wait, you are probably training every week at HP..lol

Once again, is it a qualified coach? If that person is, then it doesn't matter. You seem to know that the coach already coaches their own kid, how did you get that information?

Are you talking about KO? He coaches the second team now, which yes his daughter is on. He will be coaching the top team next year - Pre-ECNL, which his daughter won't be on. He has said that to all of the parents.

If you committed without knowing who your coach was going to be let Valor know that a parent coach is a deal breaker and request a refund. I've seen people get their deposits back. If you haven't committed yet, you can always leave for better pastures. If there is enough support from other families, you could try to rally them to see if the team can get a different coach. That is if a parent coach regardless of qualifications is truly a deal breaker. Please do share what happens if you end up pursuing any of the recommendations above.

As a parent on that team, he is the assistant. He is also her assistant at Chantilly. I like having two coaches and he is great with the girls.

And he has a kid on the team, right?
