The state of Texas APPEALED THIS RULING. If they succeed, the state will be forcing this woman to risk her health, life and future fertility for a doomed fetus. It’s slavery.

Kate Cox, a pregnant woman in Texas, whose fetus has trisomy 18, has been granted permission by a judge to have an abortion.

Completely ridiculous that a woman needs to go to court to get lifesaving health care. |
She could go to California instead. Much faster and much cheaper. Taxes do not prosecute for obtaining an abortion outside of the state. |
You go to California. Why cant you just stay out of decisions that have nothing to do with you? |
It’s not safe for a woman who has visited the emergency room four times for symptoms including severe cramps, leaking fluid, and elevated vital signs to have to travel 1,500 miles to obtain health care. |
How humiliating for our country that this poor woman had to go through this legal exercise. |
Oh but Nikki Haley is so moderate looking and she talks pretty, you know?
Sorry, that’s two idiots over on different threads. The GOP wants the total enslavement of women to their religious beliefs of male superiority. No one should vote for a Republican ever again. The party has had their chance and has chosen the worst possible option at every turn. That poor woman. I hope she is able to get safely to a non-forced birth state for appropriate care. |
She still has to convince sone doctor and hospital to take a chance this won't get overturned on appeal. |
Her doctor has already agreed to perform the abortion. You’re right about the hospital because this will be complicated enough to probably require one. The AP article says that 40 abortions b have been performed in Texas since the ban was enacted- I wonder what circumstances those were under. |
At least some mistresses of Republican donors, convince me otherwise. We know from the way the forced birthers govern that 1) they don’t care about life at all and 2) it’s rules for thee and not for me. So probably a lot of horrifying and heartbreaking cases, and at least a few women whose partner doesn’t want to deal with a kid outside of their marriage. |
It is unconscionable what this woman had to endure. The forced birthers want her to carry a doomed pregnancy to term, risking her health and future fertility. Thank goodness this judge saw things differently, though the Texas Attorney General's office could seek the intervention of a higher court since they said that the woman didn't qualify for a medical exemption. "Perinatal hospice" is a beautiful option FOR THOSE WOMEN WHO CHOOSE IT. It should not be a requirement. And some might point to the extremely rare instances where a baby with Trisomy 18 lives longer than a few hours or days. This country is not exactly renowned for supporting families who have children with severe disabilities. Wealthy families have the resources to provide the necessary care and support, but everyone else is on their own. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/07/us/texas-a...-abar&smid=url-share |
I hope you women in TX who just shrug about this issue never have to be in this woman's shoes. |
