Maybe, maybe not, but I don't think the familial angle is all that relevant. Lebanon is a far more educated and developed country than the Gaza strip, and has much culture and history to preserve, as well as historical ties to neighbors and to its diaspora. Lebanon has long been an ally of France, for example: there are many well-to-do Lebanese in France, and evidence of French culture in Lebanon. I know you're just comparing body counts, and I agree that protecting all life matters more than handwringing about century-old alliances, cultural artifacts or historical buildings... but the fact is, Lebanon is seen as a more valuable nation overall than the Gaza strip.

In contrast, the Obama admin didn't lift sanctions until a deal was signed and the IAEA independently verified Iran's nuclear compliance.

There's no way they are giving things like that away without a signed deal. Otherwise we straight up lost the Iran war and are giving concessions.

That's certainly Israel's intention and desire. The question is will they have the capability and support to pull it off.
