| Sometimes the loss of a “star” player can cause a team to function better. Other girls step up and teamwork replaces hero ball. |
So true. With that win over M&D they also added an exclamation point for anyone thinking they were damaged goods after losing their “star” Good for them! |
+1 |
I think anyone’s who watched the MDU team over the years realizes it’s not 1-2 kids and everyone else riding the tide. That team is very deep and has several kids that can play three positions on the field and they can kinda mix and match as needed. Their defense is tough too, and once they get a lead it’s hard to come back on them, |
I never said that mdu will bomb after losing one player. My contention is 1 leaves, then 2, and then 5. This has been the mdu story for years, and I predict it will eventually happen with this group. They are an excellent team all the way down the roster, so they should remain a good team, but I bet that girls will leave after tryouts. Speaking of tryouts….those mdu girls should really consider trying out for cap blue

I didn't realize there were so many MDU people here.
If the team stays together, great! More competitive teams to play against. If they dont stay together, as somebody pointed out, that has been the trend. |
Although they are the same club, lots of different things happened to the older mdu teams, and some just never had the talent 2030 does. You will always have turnover, every club does. The question for the ones on MDU, can I get seen by the top coaches. |
For sure, and I will add that the families all seem really close when I see them interacting, so maybe I’m wrong and they stay together. By I think that there are other things to consider: -MDU recruiting coordinator is a zero. You can still get recruited to top flight schools as an MDU player, but it won’t be because of the RC. -You will get zero support when it comes to BIC, JO, AS, AA, etc. The director is not interested in lobbying like other directors, and some really good MDU girls have got screwed because of it. -The final consideration is made after tryouts and the smoke clears; did they lose too many girls and fall out of being a top bracket team? With the poor RC, you absolutely need to be in top bracket to show out in front of the coaches you want to play for in college. |

Although I think your correct in terms of older teams and getting overlooked for things, I do think there’s been a shift.
The Director is actually coaching one of the AS teams and I know the 2030 team got several in BIC, maybe not as many as deserved but better than previous years. |
That is a positive for sure, but the coaches at AS don’t pick the teams. Heros and copppermine directors are immediately on the phone with the AS people the second the tryouts end, lobbying for their players, bev won’t do it. And as you said, the team, #3 and a year away from winning a natty, didn’t get as many BIC invites as they deserved. You think that would fly at HG or M&D black? |
| You telling me these tryouts aren’t impartial and the results of on of the field ability? |
Best joke I've heard this week! |

Maryland United actually does really well at American Select. Look at the 2028 roster- 5 on Red a few more on Yellow plus some girls on AA. So
If you are saying that’s all based on merit and not phone calls then good for them! |
They are a talented team and yes, those girls earned those spots. That said, the AS roster for the 2028s is pretty weak, most of the local 28 talent chose AA. Given how many MDU girls were at AS tryouts, one would expect more girls selected if the program was as tied-in as other programs. |
I don't know how many were at AS tryouts. I’m just noting between the two AA teams (DC/Maryland) and Maryland AS, MDU 28s seem well represented. |
