VHSL Boys Lacrosse 2026 Season

This is the problem for all the sports in Virginia. The regular season means very little- all the teams make district playoffs regardless of how they did during the regular season/ non district games mean very little. The season extends for weeks. IMHO the district championship should go to the team with the best record in the regular season. Only district champs should make the regional tournament and only regional champs should make the state championship. You would cut weeks off the season and reduce the strain of coaches and refs and not interfere with graduation prom summer club etc

Well stated. There are so many meaningless district and regional playoff games. Season shouldn't be dragging into June.

Well stated. There are so many meaningless district and regional playoff games. Season shouldn't be dragging into June.

Region C games all ended up being almost an exact copy of the previous District championships (same teams playing each other in almost the same order…with the same results)

People overuse "stand on your head" to mean "made 3 or more saves". If your defense is shutting down a team the goalie didn't "stand on his head". Otherwise the defense was not actually good.

Exactly. The goalies were the reason the game was 4-3 and not 9-8 or whatever you might like. Great game.

Exactly, it's almost like they're playing extra games just to build skills, learn leadership and teamwork, and enjoy being part of competitive athletics - why can't we stop wasting these high school kids' time and just hurry up and decide which one is best!!!

Can someone explain why the State Brackets last year (2025) were:
A1 vs B2
D1 vs C2
C1 vs D2
B1 vs A2

And this year they are different:
D1 vs B2
C1 vs A2
B1 vs D2
A1 vs C2

This is the first year of quarterfinals rotation. They will rotate again next season.

Because they rotate them every year, so one region does not have home field, so regions don't play each other year after year.
