Westpo could beat Cosby. They played very well tonight. Robinson defense got it done when needed.

Maybe not in great fashion… but Robo still won
was thinking the same thing. And it’s post-season. Teams show up differently. Robo dominated the first half but couldn’t score
3rd time playing. WesPo coaches were good enough to win it all last year and had a great approach tonight. Play slow on O and dont allow Robo to get out in transition where they create good looks. Goalies for both played great. WesPo goes to Cosby on Friday. Should be a fun game to watch as a rematch from last year’s state final.

Outside of 14 and 8 none of those kids could dodge or even make a pass. Credit to West Po goalie and Robo goalie as both stood on there head. I wouldnt say Robo D played bad as they only let in 3 goals on a decent amount of shots. I saw them testing out a few different players I havent seen on the field and clearly it went wrong. I dont think the game should define Robinson as much as it should define West Po. When they are good, they are a GOOD lacrosse team. Taking Madison and Robinson to one score games isnt something that a “mediocre team” does.

If West Potomac's defense was so terrific, and Robo's offense got "exposed", then how did the goalie "stand on his head"?

You can have a good defense and a good goalie…

Meridian great win over Western Albemarle last night 10-9 to finish as regional champions and an incredible 18-0 record for the Mustangs.

Robinson played sloppy. Full credit to Westpo. They brought it and Robinson did enough to survive. This was the best Westpo game I've seen all year. They are very well coached.

People overuse "stand on your head" to mean "made 3 or more saves". If your defense is shutting down a team the goalie didn't "stand on his head". Otherwise the defense was not actually good.

School population with the most amount of resources playing other lower tier schools, boring.

Great argument, but they did win.

West Po goalie was fantastic last night and made a ton of highlight worthy saves. Their D was great too and most importantly so was their game plan. It was quite obvious that they had a different plan than when they played 10 days ago and lost 16-7. They deliberately slowed the game down on offense and on several occasions had #5 sit at midfield for 30 seconds until the D came to him before starting the play in motion.

Their coach and a handful of players are still battle tested from last years playoff run and could be a tough out if they play like they did last night.

I have Yorktown 8, Madison 7.

Absolutely correct. The West Po defense was clicking. Robo’s defense was strong, too. Neither offense was firing on all cylinders. Goalie play by both teams was stellar from beginning to end and defined the game. Good, competitive game between two teams that wanted it.

Again, super wierd that teams play for district titles and even if you lose, you can be put back into a state playoff. Most other states and sports certainly have district titles but once that happens, only the winner of the district advances. Shrugs shoulders.

This is the problem for all the sports in Virginia. The regular season means very little- all the teams make district playoffs regardless of how they did during the regular season/ non district games mean very little. The season extends for weeks. IMHO the district championship should go to the team with the best record in the regular season. Only district champs should make the regional tournament and only regional champs should make the state championship. You would cut weeks off the season and reduce the strain of coaches and refs and not interfere with graduation prom summer club etc
