Entertainment and Pop Culture
How did it turn out?? With a 10+ year marriage and some beautiful kids, and more money and fame then when she started. |
Of course she is happy. She initiated the divorce and had a boyfriend immediately. |
He won't retire this year, with the chance to make history and win three and a row with the Chiefs next year. He's aging but could reasonably play another year or two if he's healthy. He won't take as many snaps but there will be room for him on the team as they will need to bring in some new guys and you want veterans there to help bring them a long. When he does retire, he will obviously aim for entertainment but I think he's aiming higher than the typical ex-NFL broadcasting gig -- I think he'd settle for a Strahan-esque career, but I think what he really wants is to be working on the creative side. Expect another SNL hosting gig this spring and for him to start looking for cameos in TV shows and movies. I do not think he will be content to follow Taylor around on tour and in the student, and to be her house husband if they stay together. He loves the limelight and he will start to get angry and frustrated in retirement if he can't find a way to stay in it. Look at how Brady handled retirement -- it killed his marriage. But he and Gisele were established by then, with multiple kids. Kelce will be retiring near the beginning of their relationship (again, assuming they stay together). It's a really dicy time to be with a pro-athlete at this level. He's been a football star literally since he was a child, and now he has to go do something else. These men STRUGGLE with this transition. |
I agree with this. I'm no swiftie, but it is obvious that she is a highly intelligent person. He is going to bore her eventually. |
| Has Kelce commented on his sideline behavior? The more times I see it, the worse I think it is. I know it can be frustrating to get benched and AR was making questionable calls, but Kelce's behavior was too much. I do hope he comes out and publicly apologizes. I can see TS's team demanding it. It's a really bad look for her young fans. |
It is? I have to admit, I’ve never paid attention to her or football, but I’m inexplicable intrigued by this matchup, and every single clip I’ve seen of her, she seems not quite right. Like a cardboard cutout or a fembot or something. Not getting high intelligence whatsoever. |
She may be intellectual but she's also very hungry for love and adoration, which he's giving her right now. I actually think he's the one likely to get bored. She will want to maintain this level of focus and connection, but he's going to tire of it and start looking for someone who is easier and has "less drama." And there will be a line of women happy to be his easy, low drama girlfriend whenever he wants. |
Why would she be an intellectual? She never went to college, still writes about boyfriends in her 30s, doesn't talk about politics or social issues unless it's safe and aligns perfectly with a PR-fed agenda... |
KC won, everyone wants to forget about it, including Andy Reid who I am not sure even fully noticed it was happening (he was laser focused on the game). I think it was weird, aggro behavior, but I think from the side of the team and the NFL, no one will care and it will be blown off as normal aggression in a high pressure moment. It would actually be interesting if Taylor or her team decided to make an issue of it or ask Kelce to publicly apologize to protect HER image. I honestly don't know how that would play out. Football is very insular and I could see Travis being annoyed at the idea that he needs to be accountable to Swift's fans for something he did while playing football. That's really not usually how it works, because I can't think of a football player who has ever dated someone this high profile with "young fans." Closest I can think of is when Romo dated Jessica Simpson, but she was nowhere near Taylor's level of popularity and didn't really have a legion of teenage girl fans. Also Romo never did anything like this -- I'm sure he had some frustrations or maybe shouted while they were dating, but mostly people just blamed her whenever he lost or struggled so the power dynamics were very different. |
I'm PP and don't really disagree with you, just taking the premise that she's "intellectual" at face value. She does style herself as intellectual though, her new album being probably the biggest and best example of this. I think it's like a Donald Trump effect -- she presents herself as literary and academic, so people think she is, even though she is demonstrably not. The truth is most people don't read actual poetry or serious literature, so to the average American, Taylor Swift lyrics probably seem pretty "intellectual." |
|
Have you listened to her songs? If you think anyone can write like that, I don't know what to tell you. It's evident that she has enormous talent and intellect. Not only lyrics, but the music, too.
Or is it only something to be impressed by if it's a man like Bob Dylan or Truman Capote? |
There are many talented female writers out there. In fact, all my favorite writers are. Taylor Swift is not among them. |
Preface this to say that I am really not a swiftie, i don't think she's a good singer or dancer. However, when you go through and read the lyrics to all her songs, see the elaborate videos she storyboarded, and examine her eras tour, it's clear that her brain is working extremely well. I do think she's odd and is probably on the autism spectrum. She's the female Elon Musk. |
I somewhat agree on his behavior. The two are an odd match, to me. She sort of looks like a child next to him (looks only, obv she's a savvy business woman). Their demeanors also seem to be unmatched, with him trending into uber alpha male territory at some points. She's the down to earthy (seemingly) pop princess. It's a weird match but, hey, not my circus. |
