Interesting. I don’t doubt that William is entitled, arrogant and even volatile. I am surprised, though, that he “rarely shows (deference) to those (ranking) above him.” Wouldn’t that small group only include the Queen, Prince Charles — who is financially supporting him, and Camilla? It’s hard for me to imagining William being less than deferential to the Queen. Or biting the hand that feeds him when it comes to his father and his father’s wife.

I expect another 5 or so to follow. Williams problems occur when the remaining thrones realize he's lazy as f and Charles/Queen are dead or housebound and can't keep up public appearances and engagement levels to shelter him.

The UK spends 110+ million a year on the royal family. How long is that going to fly with an absent ruler, a new $240 million royal yacht, a $600 million renovation of a palace no one lives in, and the UK government squeezing every penny out of the taxpayer while standard of living and NHS benefits are declining?

He is threading a very fine needle and making a poor show of it when at 40 - he should be the most active he's ever been in his life. Just some thoughts.

Every time you write "lazy as AF" just reflects on you. If you aren't British why are you getting so worked up? What do you want him to do? Not see hos children or wife? What would satisfu you? I suspect nothing.

Not see his wife and children?? What world do you live in? Neither of them have jobs and all three kids are in private school full-time. George is leaving for boarding academy in the fall to top it off (it’s good for a future king to develop self-reliance and leadership skills).

They’re going to send a ten year old to boarding school? Is that just speculation? Did William and Harry even go that young? William and Kate also seem like a more modern and tight knit family- it wouldn’t be surprising if they opted out of boarding school.

I think it's fairly traditional from age 8 in aristocratic British circles.

As a mom of twin 8 year olds that’s heartbreakingly young to be away from your parents. How horrific. I say that as a person who’s family members typically go to boarding school for high school.

It’s different in the UK - schools are within an hour or two max of home and kids that young go home every weekend. It’s also the tradition in British upper class/landed gentry/royals. That being said, still a lot at the elementary level!

I agree that boarding school at age 8 is a pretty terrible idea, but how is it so very different from families with two very busy working (or in some cases, not even working) parents who hire caretakers for their children and barely spend 5 mins a day with them? If the children are well taken care of and have friends it could be a happy place for them.

Of course I have kids. Kids who I adore and who I spend a ton of time with. I am, by all accounts, a wonderful mother who is involved and has a strong relationship with her children. Even my mother in law thinks I’m a great mom! 😉
I have no interest in sending my children to boarding school. But I do know a lot of kids who grew up with basically no interaction with their parents, shipped off to school or raised by nannies.
This doesn’t really have much to do with the Cambridges, who, for all their many faults, seem to be relatively loving parents (though I’m sure they employ a large staff of childcare help too, i don’t really follow them much).

My kids are fine. And very loved. You have some reading comp issues. And I don’t think you understand that I’m not talking about typical middle class busy working parents, but the type of parents who basically have children as status symbols but dont spend any time with them and hire all their care. It’s a very different type and one I have seen quite a bit growing up in the UK, Asia and US. I really don’t care about these people but at the very least they seem to like their children which is better than I can say for a lot of parents I know. I was fortunate to have one parent who was very involved while the other traveled a ton and mostly ignored me - but when they were around they did show me ways in which they cared for me, things some of my friends never got from either of their parents.

Oh, sorry, yes I know it’s fairly common knowledge. In my desire not to mention the rumors I emphasized the wrong part. It’s the horrible stuff that William did (does) and now the rota is champing at the bit because William and Kate do not sell papers. They’ve started to pull on William and Kate’s chains a little bit, yanking just hard enough to remind them.
