Donnie Dumptruck says Mar-A-Lago's been searched by the FBI

I'm haunted by those empty folders. If the DOJ thinks those classified docs are missing, what was in them, and who would want to see them? How much harm to our country and to our allies will result from those missing docs falling into hostile hands?

Those who defend TFG are Americans, right? Won't all Americans be adversely affected if those secrets are discovered by our enemies? How badly is our defense affected? How is the security of our entire country harmed?

Selling nuclear arms secrets to our enemies can never be a good thing for even the brightest reddist TFG supporter. We are all endangered by those empty folders. What will be the consequences? To be continued....

I bet we hear back from the 11th circuit in an hour of so. They are strong believers in trumpism. This will be another slam dunk for trump.

There is nothing before the appeals court. Not even the record as it stands had been transmitted yet. There is a protective notice of appeal filed in the district court contingent on a one week stay of the injunction. If Cannin doesn’t stay her injunction DOJ will ask for an emergency stay from the 11th Circuit next week. DOJ isn’t messing around with its filing..

Cannon is most likely already talking to the “conservatives” judges on the 11th. They will coordination her actions so as to give trump the most favorable results. In the meantime look for everything to move in slow motion. No way Cannon will accept DOJ’s time line. The judicial branch has trump’s back. He is untouchable unfortunately.

Highly unlikely, and further, the way the brief is written, it could make the judges responsible for violating the security concerns around the documents and who has access to them. Trump appointments or not, these individuals will need to be accountable for their decisions and actions.

the brief was brilliantly written.

The brilliantly written brief does not matter. They know what they are supposed to do. What accountability are you talking about?

It matters. If Cannon wants to play this game she is going to have to be more explicit. Sunlight and persistence.

She has a lifetime appointment. She doesn't have to do anything.

Well she was smart enough to get a lifetime appointment, and now however much we complain on twitter and at bar association meetings, there is essentially no resource if we don't like how she rules.

Yes she does. The brief made it clear. National security or Trump. It's up to her, for now. Either we can figure out what happened to the unfoldered top secret national security documents or she can protect Trump. It's her choice.

DP. I don’t want to be morose, but what on earth makes you think any Republican judge or justice cares about doing the right thing anymore?

I guess I’ve just lost the faith a little bit.

Unless they have got evidence of her doing something unethical or criminal, she will do whatever she wants, damn the law. That’s where it feels like we are now. Who knows, maybe Trump has something like that on her, and all of the other judges he managed to put in the bench. I know some low level politicals from the Trump era—they all had skeletons.

Tell me I’m being too pessimistic.

I'm just as cynical as you are. But don't do it for them. Making them do it explicitly, showing their work as it were, and having to take personal responsibility for their own choices is an important step. They are counting on you and I giving up.

Joyce Vance does an excellent job of explaining DOJ's latest motion here.

Well sure. And it is inspiring to see DOJ lawyers do their jobs so well, but I suppose I’m just preparing myself.

It makes one wonder if he stole the classified documents for decoration. It also opens up all his properties to being searched and raises even more issues because he transferred them to a private corporation. Mostly it just boggles the mind though.
