I am applying from private and have not heard either - if anything I assume we'd hear later than current FCPS students. (Website says "early April.") But I believe the AART at your base school is the one you'd contact.

WHAT? That's barely any time left for the appeal, especially if parents are interested in private testing...

Put in a FERPA request for your child's academic records. FCPS gives itself a 5 day deadline to comply

Why? Would would that get you? We already have the packet.

100%

So a process that is supposed to be done at central committee for fairness becomes localized for reporting .... anyone wonder what else isn’t equatable / home cookin

it would get you the communication to the AART that your kid is accepted https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/forms/Management%20of%20the%20Student%20Scholastic%20Record.pdf

And it could get you out on a list of difficult parents .... helpful for that appeal

I thought private school applicants would get notified sooner since you have to decide earlier for next years enrollment deadline (to remain private or not...)

I asked my AART if she will send out notifications if we don’t hear by tomorrow. She responded saying that the AAP office is working on notifications, so she’s sure we will hear soon. So this means that she will not be sending out anything until they do, is my guess.

This is absolutely frustrating. Orientations are supposed to be next week already. We need to know now so we can have time to appeal. This is complete and utter BS. Release the results for God’s sake!

That deadline was much earlier - in Feb at my school. Private school parents worried about that should have applied during the Fall application period. We didn't because I wanted more work samples and teacher experience with my kid, who was in FCPS last school year. If DC gets in we'll defer until 4th, but in theory we could break the contract and leave any time.

Yes. I just got a message from the AART that our child got in. Child is 5th grade and did not get in in second grade.

Yet another AART going rogue but congratulations. I am sure it's a relief after all these years. I am in the same boat.

AART did not go ‘rogue’. It was sent to ALL parents whose child got into AAP. The Principal and all the APs are ccd.

Point is, some AARTs will bother while others won’t. This is totally screwed up. They need some level of consistency in at least the notification process!!!

Why start now? There has been a total lack of consistency from school to school for this entire process.

How soon is soon? Why does it take so long to send...an email??

I don’t know. And also, this just means some AARTs will notify and others will refuse for some reason.

Because some of us DO NOT have the packets. Our AART will not share them until after we receive the official decision.
