What does everyone think about SYC

I know people who went there on the girl's side. They were recruited and left to win. They are on a very large team and playing time has to be earned. For their age, it seems miserable, but it's what I'd expect most top teams to turn into as kids age

The girls technical director, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 coaches are all getting replaced; we are in one of those age groups and we are leaving. There's too little investment when compared to the boy's side as a whole.

yeah SYC is turning into a cash cow. It did look like the boys tryouts at u9 were triple the girls. That is what is bringing in the dollars.

Investing in the boys program is one thing, not investing in the girls program is another.

There's always talk of player movement up and down rosters and then there's almost never player movement up and down rosters. If this means that all players are growing at the same rate, I'm a little confused then after being told that all players grow at their own rate. There's a lot of problems but there's a lot of problems at I think every club. One thing I know is it's not worth the cost.

Was ~$1500 this past year for my youngest, not sure how that compares to other clubs.

BRYC U10 is only $1000 and U9 $545.

SYC does not have a great culture. I know they have players playing down an age group to get the W. I know because my son was asked to do so on a few occasions. When I asked, I was told it’s ok and no one cares. We felt very uncomfortable but I don’t know the rules that well.

At what level? Seems that the MLSNext teams are pretty strict about age compliance...

She's been announced as a PWSI coach. Don't recall what ages, but older girls, maybe 04/05?

Is your son playing up an age and was just "playing down" with his own age? We're at SYC and I've never seen or heard of an overage player asked to play for a team, but I do know a number of times a player has returned to their age group for individual games or tournaments.
