This was a huge Obama fail. He didn’t make this case a priority. His administration told the family to “lay low” so as not to anger the N Koreans. In other words, pander to them. They didn’t even want them to hang ribbons in the neighborhood.
After months of “laying low” and getting absolutely no response or no results from the Obama administration, they started going public.

Trump made this a priority. And, had he not, this kid would still be rotting in a prison/hospital in N Korea and his family, nor anyone from our country, would know he was in a coma.

The young man willingly went to North Korea and you guys still find a way to blame Obama?

I don't think so. The North Koreans wanted him off of their soil. Had he died there, it would be much more of a loss for them. There were no favors done here. This was for NK's benefit, plain and simple.

Hey here's a thought... don't go to North Korea!!

They are not blaming him for the student being in N Korea. They are blaming him for not doing more to get this student home.
And, they are blaming him because he really did not do anything to bring this kid home. He failed.

If I was President, I would just let that kid die over there. He decided to on his own to N Korea. F that! You can't bail folks out of crazy shitty decisions!!

People who don't understand a concept of personal responsibility always blame someone else.
If the boy was kidnaped by NK intelligence and taken to NK, that would be different.

I don't like obama at all, but what happened to this boy was self inflicted.
Still sorry for him and his family. Doctors said he has extensive brain tissue damage. Awful.

It is a very common practice in socialists countries to release terminally ill inmates.
In Soviet Union inmates with the terminal TB stage were released to keep statistics in good shape, literally weeks before they died.
"People don't dye in our prisons!" kinda thing.
So, may be it was trump, may be it was just a coincidence - trump+dyeing boy. I don't think n Koreans would have let him go that easily was he healthy.
Anyway, the boy is with his parents now.

Self-inflicted? Sounds like something some racist would say about a black man getting attacked and beaten for walking in a white neighborhood at night.

Or maybe you won't make fun of Trump so much the next time he refers to "bad hombres" in some other part of the world.

I hope Trump takes action some day to reduce North Korea to rubble. Bunch of stupid robots who deserve to follow Dear Leader to their graves.

There are Americans all over the world in trouble zones. Many are missionaries (Philippines, Africa) or have dual nationality (Iran) or business interests. Some even may even be helping foment revolution or resistance to terrible regimes. I agree to travel to NK as a tourist was not a choice I would make, compounded by the poor choice in the hotel. However, this punishment was disproportionate to his actions and world wide our diplomats advocate for (and our Marines sometimes rescue) Americans being used as political pawns or unfairly treated. Thats what we do. For all of them.

?!

You are surprised he was treated poorly in North Korea?! He had no business being there. It costs us a lot of money to rescue people who make really bad decisions.

Dear bolded PP. FU and your little "racist" routed brain.
Taking care of your own safety is ultimately your own responsibility - nothing has changed since people began to walk upright.
Leave obama out of it this one.

I had a liberal friend, who's kid did a round-the-world trip college-sponsored trip. The kids on that trip did all sorts of stupid things - one almost died from alcohol poisoning. They trespassed in hotels in Singapore to use their pools. They blatantly violated laws. Some were simply damn lucky they came home in one piece. When he started spewing the same liberal nonsense re: not traveling to N. Korea, I reminded him that he'd be singing a different tune if it was HIS kid in that situation. That ended the conversation.

You recognize the difference between the tourist who stole some precious to NKs hearts poster and a missionaries/doctors/nuns right?
I could justify marines risking their lifes to save someone one the mission, but would hate to have one of them killed due to tourist's stupidity.
And diplomacy....may be obama was not respected much among international community and could do only so much.
I am standing my grounds, it was self inflicted trouble.
Only that the boy overpaid for his actions. It's like killing a puppy for chewing an old sock.....

The empty shell of what was once their child is with his parent's now. Let's not be dismissive in order to fit your liberal narrative.

Seriously. Now it's Obama's fault that he didn't get Warmbier home. Maybe little Otto shouldn't have been an entitled dumbass. I have zero fucks to give about this whole thing.
