Damn well I guess he's free to strike again. |
Do police anywhere have to disclose information in ongoing investigations pursuant to FOIA? Isn't FOIA a federal statute and is it used as opposed to state public records laws to request local police investigation info anyway? |
Police to Hold News Conference on Lodato Homicide Investigation
City of Alexandria Police plan to hold a news conference Thursday afternoon about their investigation into the homicide of Ruthanne Lodato. http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Ruthanne-Lodato-Homicide-Shooting-Alexandria-Update-248682091.html |
I will be shocked if the police release anything of substance. |
Me too. I am betting it's a simple"we continue to investigate..."blah, blah, blah |
I'll definitely be watching the press conference. One thing I've noticed is that every time I drive by Ridge Rd Dr on Braddock Rd, I see a police cruiser posted outside the Lodato house at the end of the street. I have no problem with it, I'm just wondering if this is common up to a month after the crime? |
+2. |
Anyone know what time the news conference is scheduled for?
Fyi its on Patch http://delray.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/police-to-hold-news-conference-on-lodato-homicide-investigation |

The fact that it is happening exactly one month after the day of the shooting makes me think it is definitely just a "check-in" type of press conference. In other words, we have no new information but the investigation is on-going. |
Agreed. I'm just amazed (not in a good way), that there is at least one - possibly as many as 3 - random killers just walking, going about their daily business. No leads, no suspects, no more details. One the one hand it shouldn't paralyze anyone's daily life, but it's still just effing crazy. I love living in Alexandria, but I feel severely let down by the APD. |
I'm the PP you quoted, and I also feel let down. I am someone who does a lot of volunteer work in Alexandria, including serving on a city commission that has a close working relationship with the APD. For the most part, I have always been impressed with them, and many of the educated, talented men and women who work within the APD, but... not with regard to this investigation. |
Thank you for posting this pp! I doubt there will be new info, but I'll still watch. I wish they'd hold a community forum, because the "press" has likely lost their attention span, and the community will put more heat on the APD. |
I imagine the press conference today is to put heat on the community. The police can't do this without community assistance, and given the circumstances, occurring when and where it did, someone in the community knows something. They just haven't come forward, yet. |
