I found this nugget of info in a Wall Street Journal article about the ballroom. Apparently Trump is eyeing Dulles airport and unspecified real estate around it.

“He recently made a detour on the way back to the White House from his suburban Virginia golf club to Dulles International Airport. His press team told reporters he wanted to take a different route to assess potential future projects. Allies of the president on Capitol Hill have proposed renaming the airport for Trump.”

I love the MAGA riposte that tearing down the White House is okay because private money is funding it. Like, if WalMart cut a check to demolish the Washington Monument, then it would be okay? Public funds *should* be used for projects like this, but only after appropriate oversight. But MAGA hates government so much they’re fine with corporations and billionaires destroying our public institutions.
